I’m thinking about giving a gift subscription for Netflix to my girlfriend. She likes to watch movies but only really has time on the weekend. We don’t really like Blockbuster, so this might be a good alternative. Who is using it, and how do you like it? What’s the turnaround time…I’m thinking the 1-at-a-time-Unlimited would be OK, but can I get four per month out of that (thinking 1 per weekend). Thanks!
You can get one per weekend easy. Just watch it and put in the mail on Monday morning. Your next flick will be there by Friday easy.
My average netflix turnaround is 3 days; If I mail out the DVD on Monday, I will get a new one on Wednesday or Thursday.

I am generally happy with my Netflix subscription. I’ve had it on and off for a few years. On the upside, their movie library is a heck of a lot more extensive than your average video store, especially if your girlfriend has any interest in documentaries, foreign flicks, or other hard-to-find titles. A couple of minor down sides: 1) Availability of New Releases. At times there’s a long wait for popular titles so you’re going to get movies that are lower on your queue. 2) Availability of other titles - If you’ve requested a title that’s not available from your local Netflix distribution center, they will request it from out-of-state locations and that usually takes a few more days to deliver.
All things considered, it’s a great deal pricewise especially when you think about the convenience factor.
I’ve been a Netflix user for about two years. I love it. If I send one back on Wednesday, I get a new one on Friday. They have a great selection to choose from.
NOTHING says “I love you” quite like Netflix

Hey! This is just a stocking stuffer! ![]()
I’ve been a Netflix subscriber for several years, and I love it. I have the 3-at-a-time sub.
If I put a movie in the mail by tuesday, I get the replacement by thursday or friday.
I generally agree with the rest of the posters…the selection is amazing, and occasionally it takes a little while for a new release, but that’s okay. Sometimes BallBuster and Hollyweird don’t have them in stock, either.
I like always having movies at home that I want to see, and having a queue of movies all lined up, so that if a friend recommends a movie, I can put in on my list, instead of trying to remember the next time I’m in Hollyweird, “What was that movie that John said was really good?”
I also like being able to keep a movie for as long as I want to. Late fees? What’s that?
Blockbuster’s service (for which I just signed up, 2-at-a-time) is such that if you bring the DVD back to a store, you can rent anything for free above and beyond your subscription. Sorta two-for-one deal, if you don’t mind going by the store.
