I’m going to be in Pittsburgh the weekend of July 6 and may be doing a race in Butler. Does anyone on here live in the area that can direct me to a good bike shop where I could rent a decent bike?
I’d appreciate it.

Bump in hopes that someone from the area will see this.
You doing the Butler YMCA Tri in Moraine St. Park?
I did it last year (it was my second ever tri).
Swim was nice, lake was calm and smooth, nice swim.
Bike course is short (7 miles I think). Couple of rolling hills but it’s over real fast.
Run is nice, it’s on a paved bike trail. The race is in a park that had campgrounds and the people camping were cheering us on as we ran.
Overall it was a fun sprint.
As for bike shops, sorry, I’m from North of Butler and don’t know of any. There is a big Trek store in Cranberry PA that would be about 30-40 minutes from there that may help.
Good luck and maybe we’ll see you there if I decide to go.
I lived in Pittspuke a few years back. Trizilla is there, but I have no idea if they rent or not. The owner is on here but I can’t remember his handle.
Check out Trizilla I am not sure if they rent. Big Bang Bikes is another that is more road specific, but may be able to help out and really nice guys.
Have a great race.

Trek of Pittsburgh rents road bicycles including the shop in cranberry. They are a solid and respectable lbs. They also carry the new madone-at least in their robinson branch- which is worth a gander. I don’t know if they rent tri bikes though. Do give trizilla a call, they have their number listed at trizilla.com. I’m not sure if they rent but the owner, Jim is a good guy. They also have a 35 mile group ride on Saturdays with some nice hills.
Also, if you decide you want a warmup prior to the race, on Friday night at 6:30pm there is going to be a 5 mile TT on a bike oval near the zoo. Check out the Allegheny Cycling Association website for more info. Some decent fast folks there, at least 3 regulars will be around 28-29mph.
Good luck at the BUtler YMCA, I'm skipping it to taper for the Pittsburgh tri the following weekend but Butler is a fun event.
Also check out North Park, they have a nice five mile bike/run trail and the North Park swimming pool is cold but has swim lanes about 75 yards or so.
