Currently I ride a 2001 Giant OCR3. I’ve upgraded a little bit, new saddle, modestly new wheels, added some aerobars. Other than that, it’s pretty much stock.
I’m looking to upgrade and was looking at doing so next year. Taking Tom D’s advice, I went looking today at lunch to see if maybe I could do it this year with a closeout 2005.
I’ve already fallen in love with the Felt F55. I was a little turned off with the guy at my LBS. Here are some things he told me:
-
Felt sells an average frame but makes up for it with some very good components. Is the F55 frame that average?
-
The will not carry Felt after this year, focusing more on custom kits, Trek/Lemond.
-
Their retail on the bike is $1929 but they have a 10% discount on it for a total of $1736.
-
They use the fitting system www.bikefitting.com. Is anyone familiar with this? Is it any good?
I could probably swing getting this bike, but I’ve agreed with my wife my next bike will last a good long while(8-10 years). So I want to get the best bike for my money and one that will last for quite some time.
Anything from above send up flags for any of you? I’ve not had much experience with this LBS and the ‘fitter’ is new and seems to be trying to make a name for himself. Any and all advice is appreciated.
