Does anyone know a source for “foam” type material to make some home-made aerobar pads? Looking for something high quality like the Cee-Gees/Cushy’s brand.
Thanks!

Try the coke/beer can foam covers/lots of different colors,i used them in my first aero bars late 80’s glued down with silicone sealer. Some pipe insulation will work also
.
Bike short padding? I have a few pairs of shorts that use a flat gel pad. Since the shorts are old and trashed, I’m considering cutting the gel pad out to make a more comfortable elbow pad.
Why not buy Cee Gees?
I’d recommend the Cee-Gee’s but you can get similiar thick foam on mouse pads from your local computer shop. Then just cut to size.
That’s disgusting, even for triathletes.
Go to a local foam shop and check their selection of neoprene.

What’s disgusting about using a pad designed to absorb shock on a part of your bike that’s designed to absorb shock. You have gel under your feet when you run, gel in your shorts when you ride, why not gel under your elbows? It’s an enclosed pad; it’s not like the gel is dripping all over.
Because they don’t offer the (custom) shape I need.

I’m not putting my arms anywhere near anything that’s spent significant time next to my sweaty ass. If you don’t think there’s something wrong with that, then we have very very different standards for hygiene.
A real man would use sand paper.
The thick old style of mouse pads…
Foam is not as good as gel I would think. What are cee gee’s? Where can I get the gel pads? Thanks.
I have a fairly inexpensive closed cell foam sleeping pad for camping. It seems very similar to my Cee-Gees pad. I’m think of hacking a bit off of it.
Give Canal Rubber a call, $10 will give you a life time supply of pads

I’ve got 3/8" thick neoprene from them, works just fine.
Also, if you want materials for Fizik’s $25+ gel pads; just pick up a pair of gel shoe inserts from Walmart/Target.
How about we all HTFU!

fine…let’s see a pic of your ride with no padding on the aerobars.
