Ok-I waited to long this year to register but I have checked everyday for the registration to open. What am I missing? I read how it sells out fast and you usually have to sign up the day after the race. Every time I check it stills says “event soldout for 2009.” Does anyone have inside info. Thanks
I wouldn’t worry too much. I registered for this years race in July last year. It was fine.
The 70.3 events don’t start with registration the day after the event like the Ironman events do. Also…in my experience, they don’t sell out quite as fast. I’m pretty sure I didn’t sign up the first day this year.
One other thing…I’ve heard that they would like to make California a full Ironman again. This is still up in the air because the Base Commander for Pendleton must approve the plan (even for the 70.3) and it has to do with the amount of time that the base is open to civilians that day (or something like that). I think that there is a new commander coming in this year so it will be a little while before they get anything approved for 2010. There’s even a possibility that the new commander will not even approve the 70.3 event…though I don’t think that’s too likely.
2009 sold out in October. 2008 sold out in late December.
