Nationwide One Way enclosed trailer rental

I’m trying to find it there are any alternatives to U-Haul for a one-way enclosed trailer rental from the Portland Oregon area to Southern ohio. U-Haul has a 6x12, but it’s not very tall but everything I found they are the only place that rents Nationwide one way. PODS and similar services are more expensive and add a bunch of time to the availability of your stuff.

Any help out there?

Buy something and then sell it upon arrival.

That’s good advice. Buy it used. After you buy it, have new hubs/bearings and tires put on it, and have at least one spare tire that is also new. When you get to your destination, you can probably recover a good bit of your money by selling it.

You could do a Upack trailer (which they tow, not you). It’s 28’ but you only pay for what you use. Parking can be an issue unless you load/unload at their yard. And, as you say, you don’t have immediate availability. But the price is pretty reasonable.

I don’t know anyone but Uhaul that rents trailers one way.

I assume you’re moving homes? Going with professional movers to handle it not an option? Easy peasy compared to DIY or buying/re-selling one which would add a whole bunch of hassle and stress.

Cost savings is the primary goal. It’s for my son and his girlfriend, I told them to sell everything that wouldn’t fit in their vehicles and a small U-Haul trailer and go with that. No point in paying five grand to rent a box truck when they don’t even have five grand worth of stuff

That is a great idea, thank you!

You have to price what it will cost to replace, not what you could sell it for. Their stuff may not be worth $5K but it might cost that to replace it at the new home.
