Natascha Badman

Loved the photo of Natascha during the run on the homepage - not one single sponsor logo on her uniform. Just for the pure love of the sport, gotta love that!

…and she had a fine race. Her finish time was fairly close to a few of her winning times.

and, if I’m not mistaken, her bike split was faster than Marinda’s. What a motor–or, the cheetah is more aero than the felt. Let’s not go down that road. Natascha still has it, that’s for sure.

I got into a very heated argument with her a few days before the race. My position then, as now, is that I was the happiest person to be racing. Her position was that SHE was the happiest person to be racing. Given the prognosis after her crash, she was pure joy to be back.

I’ve met a lot of interesting people in my life, but perhaps never a more potent combination of success, humility and class. She rocks.

Or kind of sad that a women with that much talent, that much heart and a smile no matter what…and no one offers to sponser her. She has been my favorite for a long time.

Look at her and try to figure out how the hell she can have a 27 year old daughter…just 3 years younger than Mirinda
It’s BadmaNN by the way.

HAHAHAHA. Really.

Let’s hope her husband doesn’t run anyone over in the future while he’s motorpacing her. He was driving in the freaking bike lane/shoulder on the Queen K the day before the race and almost ran one of the ST Women’s over.

Toni Hasler is also the only spouse who walks into the transition area during check-in carrying Natascha’s bike.

Well there you go…fot in mouth …again

27?? I thought Natasha was 41-42. I’m thinking one of us is wrong.

Yep. You are

That’s a relief.

Badmann will be 45 early december. Her daughter was born soon before she turned 18.

She is rock-n-roll. She is awesomeness squared. She is one bad mamajama.

x2. Now if we can get Natasha to fit Mirinda on the Cheetah! The Cheetah has to be the most winning bike of all time between Natasha and Lori Bowden!

I was diagnosed with Lymphoma a few years back, and at Eagleman my friends wore t-shirts in support of my ‘comeback.’

Natascha won that race, and afterwards was practically begging my friends for one of their t-shirts. Naturally, they fucked it up. They are my friends, after all.

But to settle your argument, mrhairylegs was the happiest guy to be racing. There’s video evidence.

As a cheetah owner/rider I have gotten to know her over the years. I had a nice conversation with her after kona this year. We talked a lot about the cheetah and the maker of it (Rudi Kurth). When her career was starting many years ago she was aproached by big bike sponsors. She was offered all the benifits of a bike sponsor in addition to the bikes. Her decision was to ride her cheetah because she wanted to win the races she was in and make her living this way, not with the sponsorship $. Looking back on her career I’d say this was a good choice. I can’t think of another pro triathlete that has made the choice to ride their own bike throughout their career.
Tony also rides a cheetah. He is a super nice person (and approachable) as well.

I have photo evidence, not video. Go to finisherpix and check out bib #938 pix, especially the airplane in the chute (pic 0042_31442).

I met mrhairylegs out at the coffee boat one morning. We had a slightly lesser argument about who was having more fun going to all the various pre-race events. Again, we both took our own sides…I had my gopro with me on that swim (didn’t take it on the race), so I may even have mrhairylegs interview material…i’ll check.

Back to Natascha. Also note that among the 15 top women runners, there were exactly 2 who were smiling. Just saying.

not sure if that is the bike she rode that day, but there is Toni ridding a cheeta during the run portion on the race course
