Nashbar.com

Hi folks

Has anyone bought stuff from these people, and were they ok to deal with, no nonsense, all above board?

Any recommendations gratefully accepted.

thanks

Patrick

I bought a jersey and socks, and a hydration pack (two separate transactions, about three months apart.) No problems at all, good service. Nothing negative to report.

FWIW… Nashbar, Supergo, and Performance Bicycle are all owned by Performance Inc. A bane to the LBS but definitely above board.

I had a dreadful experience with (non)Performance. I was angry enough to look into it further as it seems I was far from alone.
I’d be very wary of anyone likely to be infected with the same contempt for customers - might include Nashbar.

I have dealt with Performance and Nashbar dozens of times over the years with never a bad transaction.

Aloha,

Larry

Whenever I bought something at Performance, I could always get a full refund no questions asked. I’ve never had to deal with customer service, you just send the stuff back to them with the receipt.

I’ve had trouble with Performance. I’ve ordered a few things from Nashbar and never had a problem. I like Colorado cyclist, they tend to be a little high in price, but they always went out of their way to help me.

I’ve bought tons of stuff from Performance over the past few years, and only had one problem with them. They shipped me a used bike rack instead of a new bike rack. Getting it replaced was a major pain in the butt because the customer service people didn’t want to ship me another bike rack while I had the first bike rack.

I ended up buying another rack and returning the first. That experience soured me on them somewhat, however it is the only problem I have had with them out of 60+ orders.

In general, I have found that a lot of companies are great until you deal with their Customer Service desk. They just don’t see that spending money on CS is a good thing. It’s kind of a bummer, having worked for a company where we would do anything to take care of a customer, even if it seemed they were taking advantage.

Jaylew is right. They are all owned by the same company now, but run separately, so your customer experience may vary. It makes sense for them to consolidate operations, but I have no idea if they plan to do that.

thanks for the tips folks. All I want is a set of pedals, maybe a heart rate monitor too…so barring theft etc I can’t see how that will be a problem. Biggest hassle will be shipping it down here.

BTW loving those Olympics.

I have ordered plenty from both Nashbar and Performance. I have never had a problem. The closest was a bad heart rate monitor from Nashabr, but i called them up, they told me they would put one in the mail and i needed to send the bad one back.

I prefer to order from Performance because they are based in NC, and i can get it shipped UPS ground and have it at my door within 2 days and not have to pay extra.

Nashbar has been a big time mail order company since long before the internet. I made my first purchase from them 20 years ago but I seem to remember seeing their ads and catalogues for years before that. I’ve never had any problems with them and the service is on par with any of the leading mail order companies.

Here’s a link to a 10% off coupon. These are on the web all the time if you search for them. http://www.dealcatcher.com/bike-nashbar-coupons

I have purchased several items from Nashbar. I have been very happy with them every time.

I’ve picked up a few odds 'n ends from them without issue. The Nashbar closeouts are pretty affordable. I won’t buy anything major that way though. I’ll hang with the LBS for something meaningful or costly.

No problems. Just ordered a Chorus cassette from them for $89, used a coupon code to get an extra 10% off. Great deal.

guess what?

They don’t ship to NZ. I can understand that, of course. What with all the war and chaos in the South Pacific, it just aint safe…

Bloody hell.

You might try Coloradocyclist.com
I don’t know for sure if they mail to the South Pacific or not, though.
My transactions with them have been more than prompt and courtious.
