Nasal Strips

I sweat a bunch - and feel like the nasal strips help my performance (they don’t test for them do they? - but for much over a sprint - can’t find a variety that will stay on for the duration of the event. Any suggestions from the experts?

Do you clean your skin with alcohol or any other skin cleaner? Body oil can decrease the time they stay on.

I wash my face before hand. On my last brick - it made it 62 miles on the bike - and about 3 miles into a 12 miler (I did from time to time - press on it to help it stay). Been using the ClearPassage - Medium Clear variety.

Is the “clear passage” a off brand? I tried the Target Store brand a while back. They didn’t stick as well as the Breathe Right. In fact, the tan color/cloth style (Breathe Right) seem to stick better than the clear tape that Breathe Right offers as well.

I think there may be some kind of skin prep that Athletic Trainers use to enhance the adhesive qualities when taping ankles etc. I don’t know if its safe to use on the face. You might end up with a nasal strip cemented on for a week. I’ve never tried this, but if Breathe Right uses acrylic adhesive, you can use alcohol to neutralize/dissolve the adhesive. This is if you use a skin prep and its stuck too good.

Or do like me and go in for nasal surgery next Friday the 13. Yikes! I’ve got deviated septum which creates about a 75% blockage on one side. Can’t wait to see what it feels like to actually breathe through my nose. Sorry if this is too much info.

I have used Breatherights for the last 5-6 years. They stay on the entire time…swim, bike and run including numerous iron and half ironman races. The key is to thoroughly clense your nose before application. I use alcohol wipes.
