at IMC they had tents set up.
at the 1/2 IM I am doing this summer, nudity gets you banned, and there are no tents in T2…so either you run in what you bike in, or you wrap a towel around yourself or something like that.
At a 1/2 IM here in NZ back in Dec, there were jokes about nudity in T1 or T2 and the fact that it wasn’t a sanctioned race, at the pre race meeting.
The Race Director found a womans G-String in transition when taking down the racks. He held it up at the awards and asked for the owner to come forward. EVENTUALLY a red faced girl showed up on stage to incredible applause. She was acutally beside me in the racks but I swam too fast to see the show. Bummer, she was pretty easy on the eyes.
Anyway, the RD gave her the major spot prize of a bike (not a great bike but not crap either). Some guy stood on a chair and claimed he pulled the full monty also. RD said “Who cares…sit down” to raucous laughter.
Be careful with nudity in transition, it could get you aDQ, but it’s a better than a DRAFTING DQ!

In 2000 there was a mix up with the IMC change tent rentals and the men’s change tent had window panels (despite my lobbying on behalf of the male event spectators to have women use this tent)
And in another related story, I was doing a towel change at 1993 World Du Champs after the event and suffered a “wardrobe malfunction”. Next thing I hear my number being called over a loud speaker threatening to DQ me. Because I wasn’t already embarrassed enough (post race shrinkage).

From the USAT rules:
7.6 Indecent Exposure.
Public nudity in the transition area or at any time during the event is prohibited. Any violation of this Section shall result in a variable time penalty.

Is the variable time penalty determined by how you look?
I don’t get naked in the transition area but this reminds me of a post-race shower in an improvised and shoddy shower facility. The real bathroom at this area was under construction so the hosts had rigged up temporary showers screened by plastic sheeting. It occurred to me during my shower that while I enjoyed the outdoor view where I could see other competitors going about their post-race activities, they could also see me. The plastic sheeting, which was probably adequate in the early morning was now blowing in the wind. The worst part was, the water was cold.
Here is a nudity clause from a race in the Chicago Area. I wonder if theyll post the pictures also? Too bad most are conservative here.

There are far worse things to see in the transition than nudity.
