So a while back I put up a post about shaving my legs and how I was afraid to but I still wanted to.
So I was in CVS today and saw Nair for Men on the shelf. I didn’t buy it because I never heard anyone talking about using it and I figured there must be a reason. Does it burn your legs or something?
I tried it, I ended up hairless like some kind of pre-pubescent little boy. I just couldn’t control where it was going and ended up everywhere. My wife seemed to think it was pretty comical.
You gotta be kidding me, right? Does it burn your legs? They should apply some truth in advertising on that bottle and call it Nair - Chemical Burns for Men. That fucking shit hurts! And I’m no nancy boy.
Just shave. It’s a pain but women do it every day. I either shave or use clippers. There are no shortcuts.
New Nair is supposed to be much better. Got a sample pack in a race bag once. My girlfriend tried it. She said it works as well as shaving and does NOT burn. Try it somewhere unimportant first…
I have not had the nerve to try Nair either although tempted. I heard it stanks real bad too. I shave every other day with the same old disposable razor during the season. It never gets long enough to make it a chore. Also I invariably hit all the spots at some point. Before a race I shave extra careful.
By the way, I wiped out on the bike in yesterdays triathlon and chewed my leg up and good thing my legs were shaved. That way the first aid girl could check out my legs. I didn’t put any bandaids on it so there goes that theory.
I’ve started shaving my lower legs while playing football in college since the taping “took” better when getting ankles and knees ready to play on astro turf. After an extended “break” I took up triathlon and once I got fast enough to race “competitively” in Clydesdale divisions I stared shaving again to get the edge I needed to beat the other big dudes for a podium spot. I tried the nair route just to see if it was easier but it was messy, smelly and I had concerns about the burning too. My experience is just go the shaving route. Works for me.
For the last couple of years-- I have used nair for men for my first shave of the season— it has worked well for me – no burns etc. I put it on-- wipe off all the winter hair, and then shave with a razor thereafter.
I am currently using the nair for men, way better than the old version. Doesn’t stink as bad, works better, smoother than shaving and lasts way longer.
I tried it once, when I was having some razor burn problems on my upper thighs. It smells awful, and in a few places I got some sort of rash-like thing. If you’re going to use it, follow the directions very carefully, and make sure your family jewels are well protected!
I’d rather cut myself than burn my balls. I got ben gay on my balls once by accident, and that was pretty terrible. Somehow I think this would be worse!
Chicks dig it! I don’t think every guy can pull it off though. There has to be some leg definition, but my wife loves it. I limit it to the legs though.
Nair is evil, that stuff burned my chest for weeks. I still think shaving is usually the way to go. However, I have recently started waxing my back/arms. Despite all the crap that I might get for this…waxing is great! It doesn’t burn or cut and it lasts a long time!
've tried the Nair for men and it didn’t do anything for me. I even left it on for the full 15 minutes, I guess my hair is too coarse. The stuff does stink.
I have just shaved them for the first time, it doesn’t seem like too big a hassle.
I do it for taping my ankles though, not for speed, for a while I was only shaving the ankle area, but I wear shorts every day and my wife started to get grumpy at how ridiculous it was to have half the bottom of my legs shaved.
One question, I found that the area behind my knees got really itchy, I think it was the shaved hair rubbing against the other side when I crossed my legs and stuff.
Does this go away after a while?
For the age question, I am 28, but I also get my bag waxed, don’t know if that comes into it.
