My take on the Ironman Tattoo

I have been meaning to come on here to post this since I got it back in January.

I wanted something to memorialize racing Ironman Arizona and so I started thinking about what to get put on as soon as I registered for it back in 2010 to race in 2011. I was incredibly lucky to take the AG win and then I put off getting the tattoo until I finished Kona. Heading out to the island and racing (aka - surviving) Kona I knew I was going to get this. Took me a couple months to finally sit in a chair to get this put on… I hope this inspires some of you to get away from the Company logo and come up with something that is your own.

What do you guys think?

I like it. Unique. Although, for me, it sort of implies you’re an Ironman World Champion.

the only thing that matters is that you’re happy with it.

I like it, good work…

I did use the mdot in my design but incorporated an image that people associate with Whistler.

That’s one of the better M-dot ideas I’ve seen. I like the OP’s too.

I would have gone smaller in another location personally but I do like the concept. I dont plan on adding to mine. I would get another on my other calf. I dobt want tan lines on mine.

I dig it. Looks like quality work too.
Here’s mine…I seem to add a little to it after every IM. I have a large collection of traditional style tattoos (sleeves), and I liked the play on the old “Death Before Dishonor” motif.

Hate on it or don’t…I don’t really give a f*ck.

I like it, but what is with the DNF?

You havemto look close to see the “death before” banner. I think we discussed this one before, how the dnf stands out differently.

The scroll above reads “Death Before.”

When it’s done the DNF will be better integrated into the rest of it.
.

Dude! Cool. Nice to see some Old School tattoos. That’s good work.

So DNF isn’t to represent “Did not finish?”
.

Death before “DNF”

You have to be familiar with Sailor Jerry old school tattoos. It’s a play on Death Before Dishoner.

Got ya! I was in the Army for 20 years. I am not up to date on Sailor tattoos, however, that one is nice!!
