Running your bike the last 3 1/2 miles (down Lynch Hill!) in the pouring rain after shredding your tire on a pothole and finishing your first Wildflower LC- Priceless!
Awesome dude! I’m there next year!
Was it your back wheel and did you have your bike over your shoulder and your back wheel in the other hand? If so, we saw you finish the bike. Way to go!!
It was my back wheel, but I wasn’t carrying the bike- luckily I could still roll it next to me. I actually had a string of bad luck with the back tire. Cleaning the bike Thursday night I discovered a cut in the rear tire. Ran to the LBS Friday morning and got a new tire right before we drove down to WF. Got a staple in the tire at mile 48 of the race, which I changed pretty quickly. Then, as I made the turn back into the park I hit a pothole that was hiding in a water puddle on the first steep stretch before the toll booth, and shredded the tire. Ran it in from there. That’s 2 new rear tires in less than 200 miles. Oh well.
Seemed to me that a LOT more people than usual got flats. I saw more people pulled over in the first 10 miles than I typically see in a whole race.
