My First Tri - Photos and Commentary (and a suprise ending)

Well it is offical 'Twitchers, I am now a Triathlete. This Sunday I ran in the Big Fish Tri in Hadley, MI and had a great time!

After stopping in to Bikesport on Saturday to pick up some last minute items and receiving encouragement from Jim, Tom, Jullian and Bryce, I was off to do all of you proud.

Race day started with some butterflies, but a beautiful day for a swim/bike/run.

My first open water swim… how can you not feel confident in a pink swim cap???

After a Good swim I made my way to the fist of two very slow transitions…

The bike course was very hilly, but I managed to gobble up lots of people and felt really good coming into T2. After trying to run out of transition the wrong way I posted a miserable turnaround time and headed out for a very slow run.

Coming down the chute after a slow hilly run, a “sprint” to the finish wishing that I had eaten more breakfast.

Dude, you were supposed to keep the swim cap on for the entire race.

Congrats. Could you walk straight the next day?

Oh…and I think I need to introduce you to my buddy. We call him “Sunlight.”

Dude, you were supposed to keep the swim cap on for the entire race.
And ditch the gloves, forget the socks, and trash the cotton laces

Great job dude! Hardware at your first race great! I will agree that your transitions could use some work.

Agreed on the gloves, but I need the socks because I wear orthodics. And I don’t tie the laces - just slip on the shoes.

nice job, nice pics and nice abs
.

Yeah, man… six pack. Amazing. You look pretty fit due.

Congrats! Sounds like a great race.

Great job!!!

I missed 3rd in my AG by 16 seconds in the olympic distance :frowning:

jaretj

Great job!

I gotta work on those transitions! :stuck_out_tongue:

Those aren’t abs!!!..THOSE ARE RIBS!!!

Awesome race!

Did you change shirts? It’ll save time in transition if you wear the same stuff the whole race except the obvious stuff like shoes, goggles, and your bike helmet.

Nice Job, congrats on your first Tri.

Whats up with the bandana covering your seat and who are the hotties with you???

congrats on your first race and finish! See you in Boulder in July. Bring your lungs:)

Those aren’t abs!!!..THOSE ARE RIBS!!!
if I only had some BBQ sauce…

Bright orange bandana on my seat to aid in the spotting of my bike incase I forgot where it was. The transition area was not all that big but with no blood in that brain who knows what you remember!

Hey Big-

Well Done on your first Tri !

It’ll just get better as you do more…get yourself a race belt number holder the next time you’re in Bikesport too.

The safety pins suck.

Fish

Agreed! They cost me at least 2 min in the Transition. I’ll know better next time.
