Well it is offical 'Twitchers, I am now a Triathlete. This Sunday I ran in the Big Fish Tri in Hadley, MI and had a great time!
After stopping in to Bikesport on Saturday to pick up some last minute items and receiving encouragement from Jim, Tom, Jullian and Bryce, I was off to do all of you proud.
Race day started with some butterflies, but a beautiful day for a swim/bike/run.
My first open water swim… how can you not feel confident in a pink swim cap???
After a Good swim I made my way to the fist of two very slow transitions…
The bike course was very hilly, but I managed to gobble up lots of people and felt really good coming into T2. After trying to run out of transition the wrong way I posted a miserable turnaround time and headed out for a very slow run.
Coming down the chute after a slow hilly run, a “sprint” to the finish wishing that I had eaten more breakfast.
Feeling good after the race with my buddies…
A great day to race and a good time had by all!
My final unoffical time was 1:23:46. Pretty good for my first race. I checked the offical time this morning to find out to my great suprise that I took the third podium spot in my AG!!! (25-29)
Wow what a day! I can’t wait to race again after some more pool work, running, and transition practice!
Offical results:
Finish 1:23:46
Swim 9:45
T1 5:27
Bike 38:11
T2 3:01
Run 27:24
