My First Build Pjorn

So I decided to try to build a new bike. I already have 3 good bikes (tri, cyclocross, and fixie), but I have been in Colorado for over a year, and decided I really need / want a good roadie for some of the mountain riding I plan on doing this summer. Mostly, I think I just wanted a new project and a new toy.

I started with $400 for an ebay Taiwanese frame, fork, seatpost & 2 water bottle cages. The frame was advertised as an unbadged 2007 Kuota Kredo. I’m not going to argue about whether it is or isn’t, but I checked the weight and geometry, and it seems spot on. The wrench at my LBS said if it is not legit, it is a perfect copy.

I didn’t like the seatpost, so I bought a new carbon post at Performance Bike. I built it up with SRAM Red everything except the brakes, which are Rival. I couldn’t see paying the extra $$$ for Red for a few grams savings, and I thought the black calipers looked better on the bike. I bought everything on ebay, and was able to do the entire build (not including wheels and pedals) for under $1,900.

I also wanted to thank the guys at Wheeltags. The people on this forum give them a lot of shit, but they make a great product, which looks awesome on my wheels. I know they are a bit pricey, but if anyone is interested, shoot me a PM, and I can send you a code for 50% off.

It can’t be pjorn without bar tape can it.

Getting fitted next week, so I haven’t cut the steerer or wrapped the bars. Until then, it is just “soft core” pjorn.

You shouldnt be clamping the carbon seat tube. Get a cheap alloy seat post to use. Also, if you are looking for your water bottle cage. Its on the fireplace mantle. You need a less glossy background so the flash wont “bounce back”. ST’ers are a very critical bunch when it comes to our bike pjorn. Its only because we are looking for absolute perfection. Its not personal. Nice bike btw.
