My adorable nephew keeps getting my whole family sick. Any advice?

My beautiful, sweet 3 year old nephew has gotten my whole family sick 3 times and we’re currently on round 4. There’s nothing I can do, right? For Thanksgiving he had a cold and we all spent 2 nights together, the one or 2 times a year the whole family gets together. My wife says there’s nothing we can do, and I think she might be right. I sort of suggested the kids all wear masks over Thanksgiving, but she said there’s no way a 3, 4 and 6 year old will wear masks indoors for 2.5 days straight. It just sucks because one daughter was sick over the weekend and missed Monday, now my second is getting it and will be out at least tomorrow so my wife and I have had to take turns staying home with them while work is busy as hell. Crossing our fingers the adults don’t get it. Just sort of venting. Previous 2 times were stomach bugs. That was fun. Is it socially acceptable to have my family separated by a wall of transparent plastic for Xmas?

Lemme guess… in daycare

Yea but my kids are in daycare too and the past 2 years have been remarkably germ free

And daycares are better than others

I just got over a cold I got from my grand niece (grand, not great, I ain’t that old) at a funeral.

Sooooo, it isn’t going to get better any time soon.

The only option is to leave if someone is sick because if we have learned anything from the plague it is that sick people will not stay home.

Up the hand washing?

That’s all I can really find.

And just stick it out a bit longer.

We had this until cousins were about 5 then it seemed to go away.

Thanks, I’ll read up on that. There’s a new nephew in that family who’s 9 months so we have a ways to go until 5

If your nephew is sick, especially with a stomach bug, the parents shouldn’t let their kid play with and infect others until he’s over it. That’s rude in my opinion.

A bowl of condoms in the guest room?

First, don’t touch the little bug factory. Second, puts gloves on his grimy little hands. Third, walk behind him with Clorox wipes scrubbing everything he comes near. Do they make hamster balls that big?

In fairness, both stomach bugs came out of nowhere. But by the time he barfed had had spread to one of my kids. Then to my wife. Then to the other kid. Then me

Easy for me to do, but my kids that age play and interact right in each other’s faces. The only hope would me to patrol like a douchebag the whole time acting like the kid is a walking plague. Not the best look at my inlaws house and we all love each other, we just have one kid whose germs love us back a lot.

I might have to put my foot down and say We’re staying home for Christmas if anyone is sick but that means missing time with my brothers in law who I rarely get to see

Have you tried essential oils…. I wish it wasn’t illegal to punch people in the face who ask us that.

Drown the little shits…

Mostly pink… I’d say 85%…

Unfortunately, this is the only safe play.

I’m just getting over a cold, one that I caught because some idiots at work thought it’d be Ok that they came to the office s couple weeks ago and coughed and hacked all over everything and everyone.

I was pissed off enough I’ve thought about quitting over it - there’s no fucking good reason ehy I should have been sick other than their self-righteousness.

It won’t happen again: I was only in the office to get something built that I have the only license to do, and it’d taken 7 months at that point. After this, if people feel the need to come in while sick, I won’t come in. Period. That’s the only way you can protect yourself, unfortunately.

Good luck with all that…

Good luck, my grandsons are perpetually sick. They are not in daycare but around their cousins who are and are always sick. Also, my wife is a teacher so we are well stocked up on getting sick over the winter.

Have you tried giving him ivermectin? Bleach? UV rays?

Keep the kid out of your house.
