Music subthread: Jazz - post your favorite Latin or other uptempo jazz songs

This is one of our favorites and also I’d say my preferred background music in the house, office, or car. This tempo of music has always connected with me and my default mindset. I’d be curious to know some of yours, specifically with a Latin background but certainly not exclusive.

I also think it would be worthwhile to have other music sub threads.

Happy hump day.

@yeeper. Question is this a Jazz and Latin thread or a Latin Jazz and uptempo jazz. Also is latin defined by say the Grammy definition which includes Brazilian music but the Latin Grammys it is not and has its own category. So many over laps and can cause tension with some music purists so just checking.

Haha…overthinking it. Just post up some good vibes that might be latin, jazzy, uptempo, etc. I’m not a purist by any means and those who are can clutch their musical pearls elsewhere if the thread is too loose for their liking.

That azimuth listen is a wild ride. A bit too funky for me. Also at times I felt like I had a 70s ■■■■■ on in the background.

I like this!

Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Jean-Luc Ponty

From their first album. Regarded as a Brazilian classic album Not their most well known track. They coined the phrase “samba doido” (crazy samba) The rest of the album is a lot more mellow.

Watching the World Cup in the US has brought back a lot of memories. Spent 1994 in New York as an intern working on 42nd and Lex. We used to frequent an Italian place for lunch where it was Italians and Mexicans working there. We were all in the same Group E along with Norway. We used to have some great slagging matches going in for lunch :).(World Cup Trivia) We all drew on 4 points each and we all had the same goal difference.

Ireland beat Italy 1-0 in Giants Stadium on June 18, 1994. We were about 50,000 Irish fans. I remember parties all night. Full on stretch limos painted in green. Best summer ever : ). Some memorable floor fillers from the latin supporters.

As sampled by Shakira in Hips Don’t Lie

Or the Boogaloo classic as sampled by Cardi B.

It’s something special when sung in Portuguese

Panamanian reggae en Español a.k.a proto-reggaeton…

Can’t exclude the legend Eddie Palmieri from a thread with Jazz and Latin in the title. He left us last year unfortunately. Harlem River Drive album is another classic but less Latin and more funk. One for the protest thread.
