Muscle Milk- what flavors do you like?

A friend of mine gave me a canister of Vanilla Creme Muscle Milk a while back. Now that its almost gone, I’ve decided to stick w/ it and buy another canister of the stuff. Today I went to the Vitamin Store to pick some up and was a bit overwhelmed w/ all the available flavors it comes in. I was thinking your basic chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry, but when I got to the Muscle Milk aisle I starting reading all the possible flavors like Dulce de Leche, Mint Chocolate, Banana Creme, Cookies n Creme, Creme Brulee,…29 available flavors in all according to the MM website.

So my question is…what flavors have you tried and like?

Banana Creme, Dulce de Leche, chocolate, and strawberry look good to me, but I’m afraid to spend $30 on a can of MM and possibly not like it. I’m not good when there are so many choices

send a message to noah18, i know he uses it.

banana, vanilla, chocolate milk, and for a kick mocha joe.

i have been drinking muscle milk for some time, my favorite is the chocolate milk. but i dont drink it too frequently cause it makes me bloated or gain weight… i use it when i need to get back some mass. really good!

Chocolate is the best and make sure you are using the collegiate version, it is way better for you than the other stuff. I have found it keeps me from dropping any weight and I take it after every workout, post 30 min.

chocolate and mocha joe. i drink the light version. doesn’t taste as good as the standard, but still good.

While muscle milk is the best tasting protein that will ever be created, i avoid it for a few reasons. Its expensive. Its casein protein, i hope you arent taking this post workout…Its expensive. It also has a good amount of fat(read:cals). That said, Ive only tried the banana, chocolate, and vanilla. All 3 taste amazing, particularly the chocolate and vanilla. Dulce de leche does sound pretty interesting though, one of those that could be a disaster or incredible. When i used it a few years ago it was a last meal, late night snack type of thing which it is perfect for.

I’ve been drinking it (using water, not milk) w/ breakfast before my workouts. It has actually helped me drop weight. I’ve cut out a lot of sweets, pastries, and breads, so the MM is like a treat for me. I also use less than the recommended serving to cut down on the calories, but maintain the taste.

Before using MM, I’d have my normal breakfast then go workout. Soon after my workout I’d be hungry and looking for something to eat. Now, if I take MM before my workouts, it helps me fight the hunger cravings post-workout.

I’m thinking I’m live dangerously and try the banana.

Mint chocolate is amazing, so is cookies and cream. Go to GNC, they almost always have it on sale for 23.99 for the large tub, and it’ll be even less if you have a gold card and go during the first week of the month. I use it in my oatmeal in the morning and it makes a very satisfying and delicious meal, it pretty much tastes like chocolate mint pudding. By far the best tasting protein I’ve had.

The hunger post workout is a good thing, i assume youre taking in a recovery shake(whey and simple carbs) within 20-45 min of finishing your workout. The casein protein along with the fat keep your metabolism busy for a while, thats why the hunger isnt there  I cant imagine taking that before a workout, i need carbs and caffeine for my 5a.m. sessions. but more power to you. If you can find it for $23 for the 5lb that is an insane price, i remember paying that for the 2.5lb jug previously. The banana is pretty good, i dont think you’ll be disappointed.

What is the problem taking this post work~out? According to everything I have read besides food and a big glass of chocolate milk you should be replacing this stuff back into your system? I’m not arguing with anyone but would like to hear the theory behind, “I hope your not taking this after a work~out”? Could someone explain this to me?

Everytime muscle milk gets said all you see is “it makes you gain weight” and “its got too much fat and not that good for you”. I have been on muscle milk for over 3 months now and have lost 10lbs and also increased my power output. I take one serving in the morning and once post workout with no issues. According to all the nay-sayers my performance should have decreased along with an increase in weight… lol

Back on topic… chocolate is the best tasting for me.

2 scoops with 6 oz of non fat milk only has 25 grams of garbs and about 600 calories - combine that with a good solid bike or an hour of lifting and you’re getting the pre workout nutrition you need. If I take it post workout I only use water - 350 calories is a bit high but for someone who doesn’t snack at all it works perfectly and I haven’t gained a pound since I started taking it 3 or 4 months ago.

So far only chocolate - ordered mint chocolate chip though!

The Chocolate Milk tastes great.

I have a Muscle Milk shake (with my cereal) for breakfast every morning. I read somewhere that a large breakfast, including some fat, will reduce food cravings for the rest of the day.

(Caveat: I don’t work out early. Lunch time and evening workouts for me.)

Thanks, Bob

Nice work. Now are you training for Mr. Olympia?

The regular stuff isn’t good for after workouts due to:

  1. High fat levels
  2. Casein (protein)

The high fat levels slows the digestion process and your body’s ability to get the protein and “good stuff” to your starving muscles.

In the same vein…casein, is a SLOW digesting protein…so it’s a problem for the same reasons.

I drink MM (or other products like it) about an hour before bed…so my body doesn’t cannibalize itself during the night.

Then again, I’m no nutritionist…just an avid reader

thank you sir, i wasnt in the mood to type it out and you covered all the bases

Or… you could just eat some cottage cheese.

Doesn’t MM have all kinds of scary-looking chemicals, including Ace-K (fake sweetener)?

Banana, MMMMMMMM!

Also an excellent idea…in fact I do that too (in place of MM)…variety is good.

As for chemicals…it seems that MOST things made these days do…especially in the area of “sports nutrition.” Is it right or healthy? I dunno…seems like you could find a “report” to tell ya that just about ANYTHING is not good for you. My own personal opinion is that most things in moderation aren’t as bad as they’re made out to be. Just because they pumped 3 gallons of substance X into a 5lb rat…and it got cancer…doesn’t translate well into what a 150lb person should or shouldn’t do as long as they’re otherwise eating a healthy, well balanced diet.

Just my opinion.
