What would the Multi-Sport world think of a Tri/Du series in Muncie, Indiana in 2010? Maybe 2 Du’s and 3 Tri’s with an added Aqua-bike and a small 5k/10k road series all on the same day. We might even be able to get that nasty road north of the lake paved when the weather breaks!
Is this you Tomboni? I think it’s a great idea. You need to do longer races though. True oly distance at least. Enough sprint BS that Carr puts on! He’s just getting rich and lazy. My suggestion to you would also be to tack on stand alone open water swims with your events as well similar to the COWS series in Ohio. Work with Indy Swim Fit.
Jamie:
Yes, we will host 3 Oly’s and all the information comes out this afternoon all over the web. We would be happy to discuss the open water swim. Except the fact that I would want to do them myself!
I would get in touch with Mel or Kris at Indy Swim Fit and also the NASTI group. There is a severe lack of OWS events in Indiana. You could probably get a bunch more people that wouldn’t take up transition room to do just the OWS event. Just a thought.
As a BSU student, I would say try to have one event at least after school is in session (late august, early september). There aren’t many triathlete students at BSU (that I know of) but it would be nice to have something like that close by that could help grow our numbers. You could also get a student group to be volunteers for the event. This might be a little deviant from your original ideas, but I would definitely compete in a TT series if one was hosted too.
We will have two events after schools is in on Sept. 4 and Oct 2 with all the trimmings: sprint and Oly tri, sprint du, aqua-bike and 5k/10k road race.
Plus a little pizza and other great food, music ALL day and one of the finest race sites on Earth!

Good luck with the series!!
I used to swim with the NASTI’s and they are ALWAYS looking for an OWS event. I’m willing to bet you would get a large turnout from them. It might even turn into a swimfit vs NASTI throwdown.
I don’t live in the area anymore, but I would probably come back to visit for something like this (assuming I’m back in shape). It’s probably too late now, but it would be fun to have an age-group ITU style race too. It would make for a fun change of pace.
I see that you are a Ball State student. I have just formed a Triathlon Club at BSU. Are you aware of this? If you want, you can pm me your email address and I will send you some information.

I am all about some olympic races close to Indy. Like Jamie I am about over the sprint distance races. I like Don but I want longer races. Also need a chance to beat Jamie.
You have not seen my new CycleOps 300PT trainer. The bike will be all that I have again this year. I find out if I have to have surgery on my knee tomorrow. This may be another year of no run training.
Just heard my bike was done. Figure if I cant race might as well look fast.
