I received a slow puncture on the prom yesterday on my first ride back after my operation! Being an effective system I didn’t notice until I got back and cleaned the bike, the problem is my clothes. The latex got thrown up the back of my shorts and Gore top, it’s still on there after washing (which is when I really noticed it). So since washing at 40 degrees doesn’t shift it, what will? Damping it and scrubbing doesn’t work, so what will? Remember that I am dealing with synthetic materials and therefore need to be a little gentle with the material.
hmm, no idea at all. based on how to get it out of tires (answer just give up and don’t try) you might be out of luck. If anything just use tweezers or something to pick as much of it off as you can. Anyways, at least you didn’t get a flat!
Glad to hear you are riding!!! You didn’t qualify for Richmond did you? Oh god, raced yesterday at our local off road tri xterra event after a four week crash course training regimine. Great swim even swimming in 2nd for most of the race after I found a motor boat of a guy to follow off the start line. Started out hard, in huge line of sprinting swimmers, noticed a guy a few people over to my right pulling clear and I just cut hard across the guys near me beelining to the big guys feet, oooooh yeah, what a ride! Too bad he died off half way through… Decent bike considering my shape although this euro pro guy smoked by me like I was standing still. The run, oh god it made the Maui run seem easy! The hills were hilarious and considering my “hard run” lately has been a FLAT 5K loop and I probably haven’t run for more than 50ft elevation gain in months we’ll just say I’m hobbling around pretty slowly today;) Damn it was fun though!!!
Hey Tai, I guess it going to be easier to do when it dry and hope that it will come off with time. No, I just signed up for Richmond didn’t qualify.
I have been allowed back on the bike for short rides and withthe restriction that I use an mtb with front sus and on road for now but it’s back in the saddle which is the big thing!
Good ti hear that you are back racing and doing the run too. I guess that means the leg is better. Was that the Xterra up at the ranch?
I’ll be contacting you in around 6 weeks for ideas for the Pedal froce carbon frame decals, go a few name ideas but that it for now!
just pick up a 140mm talus front end, super duper plush:) You’ll love Tahoe, man that course is a gorgeous one. Just hoping you get a nice swim day and not a violent one like a few years back.
Race here was up at the ranch, Kualoa ranch. My hips not really 100% better but it handled 4 weeks of training up till this race, although i probably ran 20 miles total during those 4 weeks. Just couldn’t pass up the chance to race and I’m probably not doing, or at least not training for Maui so I’m retired until next year as of now;) Might still come over and watch, maybe do the swim at Maui, maaaybe the bike but we’ll see how I’m feeling.
Sorry to hear it’s not 100% but give it time, one thing I learn this year is that it’s not so bad to lose a season if you ensure that there will be one’s to follow.
As for the fork I have a super sweet Pace RC36 stealth ready to mate to it.
Now that you mention it, could it not be the propellent that gets rid of it by freezing the substance? In which case some Co2 would do the job without damaging the material.
I think it’s actually the solvent. I do know for a fact that a lot of circle track (car) racers will soak their tires in WD-40, wrap them in plastic and let them sit in the sun the afternoon before a race. It softens the rubber and gives them better bite on the dirt track. I’m assuming it’s the same principal with the latex. I would soak the area in the stuff, and let it sit out in the sun or someplace warm and see if it softens it.
THink I’ll try it with the shorts as the Gore jacket is a little too expensive to ruin. Probably a good tactic if you are sponsored and don’t have to buy the replacement tyres.
yea, treated tires like that would last only a race or two, but when they are racing for a purse, they are willing to blow a couple hundred a race on tires if it means a win.
