Don’t race with them , however train with them, especialy in the winter.
Never got a flat with them and always felt faster on race day…
Hunt out Panaracer flat away. They are an awesome product that weighs next to nothing (circa 23g per wheel) I have used them for three seasons now in ALL my wheels and have yet to puncture!
what are those julian, a liner? do you know if they sell those at probikekit, i buy from them in occasions. How about on race wheels? I am thinking about taking the Mr. tuffys out of my race wheels (tires are michelin pro2 race) that everyone says should be fine without the tuffys

As I said I use them in ALL my wheels, so that would include race wheels. I just googled them and got this for you:

No idea about probike kit, but then I think it only fair to leave something for you to do, eh?
Wow, I just mentioned these things in the winter thread…
I used to use one in a home made mtb studded tire about 15 years. I drove 150 screws from the inside of the tire out through the tread blocks. This left 150 shap pieces of metal on the inside of the tire next to the tube. Put a Mr. Tuffy in between the screw heads and tube and no flats!
I bet it had rode nicely too?
I wasnt trying to get you to do the work for me… but thanks anyways. I asked you about probikekit because maybe you were familiar since you are in the UK and maybe bought from them. Again, thanks for your response.

Julian made mention of the Panaracer product, I will make mention of “spin skins” another great liner that doesn’t affect rolling resistance.

whats the difference between these liners and the Mr. Tuffys that is claimed to affect rolling resistance? All enlightment is welcomed.

Aside from the fact that they adhere to the inside of the tyre and stay in position, I know they work. My gf used Mr Tuffy in IM Brazil and got two punctures, so I consider that Mr Tuffy doesn’t work, so well.
I have not been able to detect any discernable difference in rolling resistance or ride quality.
I’m not selling them, just trying to put you on to a quality product that works in my experience.
Julian, I understand your point and appreciate it. Maybe I didnt explained myself quite well. I was not aware that this liners will affect rolling resistance so much as to be noticeable as some people had pointed out, that is why i asked you if there was something in these other liners (maybe material) that would not affect rolling resistance as the tuffy’s are supposed to.
I am trying to educate myself since i was ignorant enough not to know that putting tuffy’s in my race tires will affect negatively. On training stuff is not even an issue with me because, well its training so the harder training the better race wheels will feel.

No problem, the fact that these are like a roll of cotton wool means that they compress as the inner tube pushes the liner against the tyre. This means that the liner has some “give” in it maybe this is why the ride is not compromised, I honesty don’t know but it just isn’t. Try it.

Look at the table here under the “Tioga Comp Pool”:
http://www.discoveryride.com/human/rolling.html
Even though these are relatively small diamter tires, I would expect the % increase in rolling resistance to be similar in larger diameters. It looks like the Mr. Tuffy increase the rolling resistance by >50% while the “Spin Skins” (which look to be the same as the Panaracer product - a woven kevlar insert) only increased the rolling resistance by 25%.
Hope that helps.
Very well, that exactly what i was trying to understand. Thanks also for the link i am going to get them this week.

Great to know. thanks for the link.
I am not sure how will that translate into seconds/effort but certainly sounds like a big number.
