Motel/ Hotel suggestion for the Marine Corps Marathon

Hello,

I was lucky enough to get in. I wanted to race this race so I could earn my second Eagle, Globe and Anchor. I’m a former 0331.

In my 15 years of racing, I have never traveled to a race where I had to stay overnight.

Could you all please point me in the right direction for a place to stay for the Marine Corps Marathon. I will be taking my wife and 13 year old son.

Thanks!

I’ve raced 5 times. Every time I stayed at a different hotel and either took the metro in or the hotel had a shuttle. The metro is a great way to get to the race and back.

Hyatt Arlington. Short walk to start/finish.

Pre- & post-race buffets, if you’d like.

Metro stop right at hotel.

Probably 95% of us locals take the Metro (subway) to and from the race. Just get a hotel near a metro station and you’re golden.

If you need a hotel recommendation, the Rossyln Marriot is at the finish line. You can’t get any better than that. Plus, it along the race course.

Another vote for Roslyn. I think we stayed at the Residence Inn. There is a cluster a hotels there. Easy walk to start/finish, expo accessible by Metro.

I was a POG in the Corps (winger) and ran this race a few times.
My recommendation is to stay in the Arlington/Rossyln areas. There are metro stops near by to get out and about (the expo, sight seeing, etc… ) and most importantly it is a short walk to the start and finish.
The Key Bridge Marriot and the Holiday Inn in Rossyln and the Hilton Garden Inn Arlington/Courthouse are three good places.
The family can have a short walk and see you run by and later on walk to the finish line to see you complete the race.
Once we stayed in Crystal City and the wait to get on the metro or the buses that ran between the finish and Crystal City was terrible. Ever since it has been in the Arlington area for me.
Good luck!
I’ll be one of the other 29,900+ runners with you.

The Holiday Inn near the start is a real sh*thole but it’s convenient.

Residence Inn Pentagon City.

Walk to the start. 2 blocks to the Metro. Walk to grocery store (and have a kitchen in room). And a nice big free breakfast (and they get it ready by 5am on race morning). Since it was the weekend, the hotel was 99% runners. It was a perfect spot to stay for weekend.

This. Nothing beats free b’fast (return to the room to rake care of business) then a 5 minute walk to the start.
