I’m doing IM Austria in July, and hope to ship my bike home to the U.S. so we don’t have to carry it around Europe after the race. I have read horror stories about shipping bikes, but is there any consensus about what companies are best?
I have not shipped a bike internationally, but have always been very satisfied with FedEx shipping my bike around the US. They are less restrictive than UPS with regards to size and don’t cost much more. For business purposes, I routinely use them to ship packages to Europe, including fragile, dry ice, biohazard material (I’m a medical scientist) and we’ve never had anything damaged. I’ve never shipped from Europe back to the US though.
