Thinking about buying a new wetsuit (currently have a 2.5 yr old, entry level Quintana Roo fullsuit which fits well but is starting to sustain some nicks + cuts) and would like to try a suit with the greatest bouyancy in the legs possible. I will try a few for fit/comfort before purchasing, but, fit being equal, I am thinking that raising my legs in the water will be the biggest advantage given my exceptionally weak kick/sinking legs (barely make forward progress during kick sets without fins, its actually gotta be pretty funny to watch). Flexibility in the shoulder, I think, is not as big an issue for me yet, as I don’t think I am flexible enough in the shoulders to take advantage of what the top end suits offer. For what its worth, I swim faster in races (though not fast = 33-34 HIM) with the benefit of a wetsuit/drafting than in the pool without a wetsuit or flip turns (fastest 500 yds in pool is 8:22). Greatly appreciate any advice/suggestions on most bouyant suits/models/brands or the above reasoning.
Michelin make a great suit I hear.
Give De Soto a try: http://www.desotosport.com/wetsuits/index.shtml
They have great wetsuits and even better customer service.
Give them a call or shoot them an email regarding your leg buoyancy question.
Good Luck.
The wet suit needs to fit well. I have had several over the years and currently have an IM Stealth. I find it to be very bouyant and very fast. Different suits tend to fit different body types (like bikes and shoes) so you may need to try a few. All of the top suits are fast and bouyant so you need to look at personal preference.
Good luck,
