Most Aero Skinsuit?

Who makes the most aero cycling TT skinsuit-- well positioned seams, etc. And perhaps more difficult, where can you buy it? Preferably a long sleeved one.

$49 on sale.

Do not know if it is most aero but price is right.

**Also search **http://biketechreview.com/forum/ for skin suits and there is some discussion that might be helpful.

Cheers,

Neal

I asked the same question on biketechreviews recently. Surprisingly, there aren’t but 2 or 3 choices. With all the hub-bub around aero things, you’d think the manufacturers would be coming up with more products along this line.

It appears the best, available choice was the skinsuit that Nike developed for Lance. No longer made, you can find them on ebay occasionally. Whether you can use them in events with those graphics is another discussion.

I’m need to wear my team skinsuit for events so I’m using a Verge which is quite nice but nothing special in the material/aero department.

Neal,

That skinsuit would not be legal at a USCF event. No sleeves.

I was fortunate to score a Nike skinsuit off of ebay a couple years ago. It’s really a pretty amazing article. I have a number of skinsuits, but no other conforms to the body without creases and wrinkles the way the Nike suit does. When you pull it on, you think it’s going to suffocate you … like it’s truly second skin. But it doesn’t. It breathes really well. I’ve raced it in 100 degree heat and been quite comfortable. Unfortunately, it does have Discovery graphics and I can’t use it as often as I’d like. I’ll be in team kit this year that’s from Hincapie. Hopefully they put some serious thought into their skinsuit design. George turns in some pretty mean time trials.
.

I’m surprised with all the Cervelo owners no one mentioned Cervelo’s skinsuit. It’s very nice. Tends to run a little large so order 1 size down. Otherwise fits very well with no unnecessary bulges and good breathability.

I wanted a long-sleeve skinsuit two years ago, so I ordered a Cervelo. I couldn’t believe how heavy the fabric and the overall suit was. I sent it back. There was no way I was gonna wear that for TTs in the 95+ heat and humidity of the deep south. That thing had to be designed for cyclocross or something, but why would Cervelo have an interest in selling a cyclocross suit? Maybe their short sleeve suit is better. I chocked it up to, “well what do you expect when you order cycling wear from a Canadian company.” At least it’s not flannel, eh.

.

Psycholist, if you are listening, how is the fitting on the discovery skinsuit? Does it run small or large? I’m tall (6’2") but not that broad (42" suit size, 175 pounds) and don’t know if a large would be too loose in shoulders/chest.

Thanks for any advice if you get this message.

Although finding one would be a PITA, I would think one of the Garmin Slipstream’s (the ones that look like flying squirrels) would have to be up there… not sure about it’s legality now though…

Hopefully he was able to find one by now ;^)

haha didn’t see the op date! But I didn’t Necro it at least!

Not so fast, Bob. If it’s a USCF TT, it’s OK. They changed that rule this year. Look at rule 1N5 on page 55.

http://usacycling.org/.../USAC_rulebook-1.pdf

“Sleeveless jerseys are allowed only in non-international MTB races and individual time trials.”

I’ll bet they did that to help encourage tri-geeks to do TTs

edit: Doh! I didn’t see that you posted this back in '08…well, never mind…but, they DID still change the rule this year

Search for the threads on here by Sergio Escutia about the Castelli Body Paint suits…

Not so fast, Bob.

Awesome!

Assos makes a decent, but expensive skinsuit, but my team is sponsored by Castelli and I absolutely love their skinsuits, wear them for any TT’s or crits
.

The Castelli body paint is the damn coolest thing I have ever put on. Damn pricey too. For the money I think the Champion Systems suit is great. And yes, I know this thread is old.

word on the street is that these are pretty fast

Since I originally posted, I purchased a Nike suit. I have to say that I really like it. Its very, very thin with virtually no seams. But, they are hard to find so I’m interested in the Castelli suit. Some of the expensive suits are really thick with even thicker seams and don’t fit tight enough. Have you worn this suit to know more about its properties? Has anyone had a chance to test it in a tunnel?

I rode through a couple of tunnels in it and it felt great

mine is very thin and the seams are the same, not that easy to get in and out of but they rarely are
.

Tailwings. I have one size M for $80 shipped. Only used it twice.

Why oh why do I get sucked into reading these old resurrected threads?
