Mosquito Traps?

Anyone use them? Do they work?

We have terrible mosquito’s every year. Typically I just drown myself in deet every couple hours when I’m in the yard but it’s a PIA doing that when you just have to do something quick outside. It also makes the outdoors not so much fun for entertainment etc.

The pesticides supposedly only last 3-5 days or less if it rains. I’m thinking of putting a couple traps up around the areas we would spend most of our time. Just wondering if anyone had any luck with them.

We have two of these.

Took a bit of experimenting to find the best placement but they work well. For these, you don’t want to place them where you spend your time, you want them a bit away as they draw the little bastards away from you.

My FIL has some kind of mosquito zapper. I was skeptical but the Mosquitos are definitely not as bad this summer. And there is tons of standing water around. Stupid rain just won’t stop.

Lol… mine does too up at his cottage.Crazy old bugger has every gadget invented… lol. Have to admit it seams to work… a skeet gets zapped ever minute or so at night during high season but… meh…

Do the zappers only work in the dark? I understand the bugs are attracted to the light.

We just recently move to mosquito country and I have never lived in a place that had them before. Trying to find alternatives to Deet baths or screening in the whole deck.

Yeah they zap at night. It zaps. A lot.

If you want something portable that works - get a Thermacell. They are amazing. I used them back when I hunted and the mosquitos would be gone within a minute of turning it on. It doesn’t work as well if the wind is blowing, but then they usually aren’t too bad then anyway.

Amazon Thermacell

The hype is real. Southern hunters swear by them.
