A nice run from him, and I believe he has already in the past run a 1;01+ somewhere else. It just shows how good the other tri guys that regularly beat him in the run are, especially off the bike runs. Just wish the guy could find that consistency that the others have, as he even sometimes swims in the top group tooā¦
I said he had already run a 1;01+ before, and I believe that to be trueā¦This seems like a new PR for him by some seconds, dont recall what they were on his other oneā¦
If Pearson wants to race one of the early T100s he could ask the PTO (however there will be very few wildcards on offer). Otherwise all he has to do is ask USAT to put his name on the waiting list.
However it will be near the bottom so unlikely to get a start. He (and others in similar boat eg Brownlee junior, GTB, needs to race a few MD races and show his metal.
I think every wildcard (exception Coldwell) this year has had a middle distance palmares.
There will be several Frenchmen and others whoāve already shown theyāre capable but there are more WTCS races this coming year. Get out and race some Challenge or 70.3 races.
Iām saying if T100 reached out to him in the past the same way they did to others after Blu etc declined.
With their current system, who knows but the fact that Justin Riele gets called up to Vegas suggests they willing to make decisions that arenāt entirely ranked/waitlist based.
The T100, I assume would like to have a fast American in the mix. In any case , the small bits of media Iāve seen of Pearson is he acts disdainfully towards mid/long distance. But that could likely just be friendly rivalry.
Blummenfelt was offered a 2024 contract (as was Lange) but declined (even with the Olympian clause). His focus was (1) Paris and then (2) IMWC. Heād have had to race LLV which wasnāt going to happen. Why on earth would the PTO āreach outā to Pearson: he is ājustā a sometime top ten SC athlete with Zero MD experience.
Riele was offered a wild card (LLV) iaw World Tri / PTO start list assembly protocol - either in Tranche 2 or from high on the waiting list in Tranche 3 (āentirely ranked/waitlist basedā). He has raced several IM Pro Series races fairly well, most recently a #4 in Michigan. Currently ranked #28, and remember about 8 contracted were 6 days away from IMWC in Kona, so lots of wildcards.
āa fast American in the mixā Long fills that role; also RvB (both on merit). Surely thatās enough?
Great time: 61:08. Best of luck for his future sporting endeavours. More cycling and commensurately less running if he really wishes to break through in short course (or MD) triathlon.
Youāre implied criticism is spot on. Who am I to take a view, let alone share it?
I wish him well and hope he gets quality advice.
As another superb runner, it will be interesting to see Milnerās progress when he gets his bike up to scratch (28:47 in Torremolinas from the group behind Pearson).
no problem sharing a view. i just havenāt noticed pearson slow on the bike or the swim. also, iāve noticed yee and a brownlee throwing down very good runs and we donāt criticize them for it (that i have seen). pearson comes from an elite run background, and when he throws down his big solo runs heās not ignoring the other events. i argue that he throws down those runs because heās not ignoring the other events.
these half-marathons are not his most impressive run results. this past january he was 4th in the US XC championships, leading the race at 6k ahead of a bunch of olympians (hilary bor, cooper teare, et al). which he did in the middle of a big swim bloc.
