Morgan Hill/Uvas area, cycling route question

Hi there,

I’d like to start around Los Gatos and head south to loop around Uvas Reservoir and back.

Route is not set yet. I’m into the combo of flats, rollers and hills. Scenery is good. Low traffic is good.

My main question is, WHERE DO YOU FIND WATER out there? My Krebs map does not indicate any water fountains in any of the little parks or picnic areas. I realize the map is a bit out of date. Do I need to roll down into Morgan Hill or Gilroy to buy water?

I was thinking of going McKean out and back, looping around Uvas and back via Oak Glen (could also continue a ways down Watsonville Road and into Gilroy if that’s interesting). Then do that Hicks hill loop on the way back.

I see that Santa Teresa is a recommended bike route too. I could go out McKean and back Santa Teresa or vice-versa, if Santa Teresa is interesting at all?

Best ways to get in and out of Los Gatos without bad traffic?

Thanks for any recommendations.

Hey Bro,

This is my stomping grounds and have ridden this 100’s of times.

Good route I suggest you go over Kennedy Rd in Gatos then from there up Camden through Almaden. When you get out to Uvas there are good little climbs. It gets very hot mid day and yes there is very little water out there. You can find water off of Watsonville Rd at a small Native American Park. On the weekends there are a ton of riders out there…
