More Ironman South Africa Bike Porn (photo's)

Leading on from Julians batch last week, here’s some more photo’s. I relaxed pre race by doing some more research for my masters degree. Check out the weird debadged thing with what appeared to be a homemade bar, the retro shopping bike and more…

Starting with an unusual frame. It looks like a BH at distance.

Bryce.

Bryce, That “BH” looks more like an earlier C4 model, if I recall correctly…especially in the headtube area. I can’t find a pic yet, though, but I remember racing a guy on one that looked a lot like that…

Other than that, and the basket bike…nice bikes…including that Kuota…

It was pretty rough looking but very individual. There were hell of a lot of P3c’s as well. The most common bike I estimated were giant TCR’s, varying Cervelo’s, and a few kaliburs. It was interesting just to walk around and soak it all up. By the way, my favorite Zipp ? - was last seen at the side of the road with it’s saddle sheared off…

Hi i sent you a PM
.

I think the debadged bike may be a Corima Cougar. Check thier website. The one shown is a track bike, but they offer this frame in a road configuration also.

Not sure what’s up with the aerobars…

I would agree but the surface finish of this one was awful. Maybe they repsrayed it themselves. The handlebar was bizarre and definetly looked like they’d made it in a garage !

YO–nice Kuota–what size frame and how tall are you ?

thanks

I like how they have real bike racks, so you don’t have to hang your bike by the saddle or brake levers. My bike never fits under with the bottles on the back, and last year at IMFL a volunteer racked my bike on the very nose of the saddle, causing the cover to rip off.

Thanks for the pics and the report in the other thread. Nice race.

I’d bet the Zipp snapped a seat rail bolt. They are hollow and I’ve broken lots of them. I order then from Dave at 10 at a time.

Thats what it looked like to me. I really felt for the guy as it was out at the turnaround miles from anywhere and there wasn’t much he could do about it. Terrific bike (knew you’d approve Paul !).

YO–nice Kuota–what size frame and how tall are you ?

thanks
I’m 6’3 89kg and the frame is a size large. It was the first one shipped into the UK and I normally ride with a Corima Disc and a Hed 3c (I changed my wheels to clinchers for this race). I like it.
