MobilityWOD (injury prevention / healing) -- "Every human being should be able to perform basic maintenance on themselves"

ST is loaded with injured and damaged goods (see my sig line, or the “human junkyard” thread awhile back). If there’s anyone who is ever going to restore me to the tri battleground, it’s this guy:
http://www.mobilitywod.com/

I came across him in my search for a hard core top notch physical therapist who “gets it” (he does). As a bonus, he’s a hell of an athlete and a great guy as well.

Note: he did not ask me to plug his site; in fact he doesn’t even know. I posted this because I think many STers will appreciate the videos on gaining mobility and preventing/healing injury. Yes, he’s strength-oriented. But he also coaches and is the PT to pro cyclists, Oly rowers and plenty of others.

Also, you CF-haters… yes, he runs a Crossfit. But they don’t follow the CF website’s WOD, instead doing their own thing. IOW, he’s not a religious CF Kool-Aid drinker…

I’m all for strength training, improving mobility and GPP, but why do CFers always sound so condescending?

He definitely doesn’t. If he did, I’d never have gone past visit #1. I’ve not met a more supportive and energetic in the field (or anywhere).

i read this site daily for very valuable tips…has helped hip, legs and shoulders
.

Love that site and have bought a lot of the tools he uses. Next is the armaid… my lacrosse ball and stick just don’t cut it for my forearms.

I’ve incorporated his movements into my massage practice and have some great results.

Ha! The lacrosse ball was my doing. He’s about to start producing a larger gnarled ball that doesn’t slip so you can sit and roll sideways across IT bands, etc. It will be awesome.

like the rumble roller? eff that thing… im its owner and its bitch

I haven’t used the rumble roller – I’ve gone pretty ghetto so far (until that gnarled ball comes out).

Love Mobilitywod too, really effective exercises and great videos. I have a stack of tools - rolling pin, lacrosse ball, foam roller, big elastic band - in the corner of the sitting room - get funny looks from visitors!
