What’s the best mobile credit card swiper company out there? The only one I’ve really ever heard of is Square, but have also heard they charge a lot. Is there another company anyone has had good dealings with they’d recommend? (Even if it’s Square. If that’s they way to go, that’s what I’ll do). Thanks.
Square is the best IMO. 2.6% + $0.10 per swipe. You can do better with Clover and a third party payment processor but it’s unlikely you’ll ever do better than 2.4% and generally as % goes down the fixed per swipe goes up. Unless you’re talking about doing high hundreds of thousands + in sales I wouldn’t overthink it and just go Square.
Edit to add: we have a lot retail tenants and more and more of them are going to square. None of them ever seem to complain about square, but I do hear people complain about Clover. I make this query a lot as I find the payments space interesting. Big restaurants and retailers tend to stick with NCR but their mobile solution is lacking IMO. BofA and JPM have mobile payment hardware now IIRC, might be worth looking into if you bank with one of them.
