The technology is somewhat distubringly simple. The bike’s sensors detest what your brain is thinking and shift gear for you.
It’s real. Shimano Mi2?

That’s like my wife. She detests what my brain is thinking and pitches my gear for me too.
"That’s like my wife. She detests what my brain is thinking and pitches my gear for me too. "
But with this invention she’ll be able to rip into you for being detestable before you even open your mouth…
This will be great for people who lack hands. For everyone else, don’t they already have the biomechanical version of this?
This wouldn’t work for most women, the gears would be changing so much they’d never get to the finish line.

Believe me, she knows I’m detestable before I open my mouth. She gave up ripping into me for it years ago.
About this…

Agreed, this will be fantastic for handless crit racers. I doubt it’s really necessary for handless TTing though, let’s not make things more complicated than they need to be.
The main question though,… how will triathlon treat this. Handless triathletes that will be able to shift by only thinking about it… will this be an unfair mechanical advantage ala Pistorias?
This is not an advantage for triathletes. They don’t think about shifting.
How does the bike tell the difference between “shift, dammit” and “go faster, dammit!”? I think that at my bike a lot.
I think the bike trains us what to think. It’s HAL.
Brain control is better than mind control.
I could see me using 10 different gears in 10 seconds with the mind control. I would wear down the cassette on a 30 minute ride;0)

too late! i already have this feature on my bike! seems like every time i want to shift BAM something makes my hand move the lever or the button and the shift just seems to ‘happen’ on it’s own. it’s really a great feature. i haven’t had any issues with battery life yet either.
How do you select the language? If its slang, I’m all for it, other than that, I don’t think too coherently on the bike.

Part of why I am so fat was my dedication to seeing every movie I possibly could in the 80s. So I immediately thought of this when I saw the OP. The poster is in German, but Eastwood had to “think” the controls in Russian when he stole it.
Cold wars movies. This was even before Red Dawn.

jokes aside, we all know this is coming at some point or another.
I keep honestly waiting for a TT helmet with a “on screen” visor telling me all the stats I need to know.
technology is here, Giro can you hear me?
YES!!! Exactly what I was thinking!!! Shimano would be Japanese, campy-Italian… we would all have to buy Rosetta stone!!!
Already in the works, quit stealing my ideas! Heads-up display on a visor mounted to aerohelmet. Displays all current and ave data (with possible GPS option). Very touchy subject though as some would be all too consumed on what’s 1" in front of their eyes as opposed to whats on the road in front of them.

That exists as well.

That would definitely add another dimension to “mental training.” You would be training your mind to have dominion, not only over your body, but over your bike as well.
But what I’m REALLY waiting for is goggles that will display a GPS-based image to enable me to navigate efficiently through the water. You could even pre-program it with the locations of the turn buoys. Maybe brain control could be used to turn the image on and off.

This already exists. But unless your first name is Spec and last name is Ops, you’ll never see it. Replace Bouys with Ship mines, and you get the idea.
