I need to be in midtown NYC for a few days in March for business. Can anybody recommend a hotel in midtown that has a pool where I can get in a good workout?
There isn’t one. Parker Meridien has a pool, but it is small. Call the Equinox in the Time Warner Center and see if any hotels guests get access to the facilities. New York Health and Racquet club has a few pools in midtown but I think they are also less than 25 yards. You could call them and see if any nearby hotels offer access. Your best bet is going to be the pool at John Jay College on 57th and 10th, which has open hours and there is masters group called Red Tide that you could drop in on. Private clubs (NYAC and NY Tennis and Racquet Club) have pools, but good luck getting in. I mostly swim downtown, so there may be some I am missing.

Not sure of any hotel pools around midtown, but the couple of times I had to travel there, I cabbed it to Asphalt Green. One of the nicest facilities ever. The only thing is its kinda expensive for a 1-day pass (like $20 if I remember), but man it was worth it. Enjoy.
Manhattan Plaze Health Club has a very nice 25 yd pool that is quite empty during the day. 42nd and 10th Dunno how much a day pass is though these days.

Crown plaza in midtown has an 18 yard lap pool.

NYHRC has a pool at 56th between 6th and 7th aves…
There’s a YMCA at 63rd between Central Park West & Columbus. They have a 25 yard pool with 6 or more lanes. The locker rooms can be a little sketchy and the water used to be freezing (I moved a 1.5 years ago) but it’s a good place and I think day passes are $10 or so. Be sure you bring/wear a swim cap even if you’re 100% bald. They’re real sticklers for that for some reason.

Crowne Plaza hotel with access to New York Sports Club swimmnig pool. The pool is 18 yards. You also get acess to fully equiped gym and bunch of other good things (sauna, towels, etc.).

I used to swim at the Sheraton Manhattan on 7th Avenue and 51st Street. They have a 25 yard pool that was usually pretty empty during the day. They charged me $100. for 10 visits, or $100/month, but that was a couple of years ago.
Sheraton Manhattan info says its a 50 foot pool. Is that right?
