Michael Raelert domination

Can anybody beat this guy right now? He seems to be almost unstoppable.

When was the last time he raced his brother? Who won that one?

No doubt the guy is on fire, but the big race to have won this weekend was the Rev3. That was some field there, and nice to see Crowie still has it for the speedy half distance. Bodes well for his Hawaii chances again this year… Too bad the drama of the big Rev3 series money is done now. Wonder if Matt will still put a lot of energy into the ironman distance race they still have?

And how about Brownlee, seems his time off has not changed his dominance of the ITU circut. Lots of great performances out there with the men this weekend.

But you are right, Raelert has got to be the favorite in every race he enters now…

Yeah, I wish that Raelert would have done Rev3, that would have been great to see. Of course it looks like the race between Lieto and Potts was also a great one. Those two guys always seem to end up in some great races no matter who they are competing against.

He went by me going up the last climb on his second lap (my first) like I was standing still - I nearly was actually. I thought Cam Brown / Mathias Hecht would do better, but it was pretty hot out there today - at least compared to the temps we’ve had over the last 4-5 weeks (it was one of the warmest/hottest days of the year so far I think).

word up it was! going to do a little race report for folks to read.

I’ll look forward to reading it - interested to see what you thought of it.

Huh? This is going to be a good one if both Matty Reed and Terenzo Bozzone show for Cedar Point. It’s not official yet, but I believe the points will be around 810 versus 800 for Reed and Bozzone respectively (if the place points at Quassy equal the points at Knoxville).

I was talking about the fact that the big money is no longer avaiable for Matty. Not sure what the series money was, i remember that it was not really that big. Being that it is Mattys 1st ultra I believe, the incentive just dropped a bit, that’s all i was saying. No doubt he will still be giving it his all as he is a winner at heart…

Yes, Reed should have 810 to 800 for T-Bone…

My bad, I didn’t realized there was a special prize for Winning all 3. I thought it was just the points.

Originally there was supposed to be $125,000 bonus for sweeping all 3 races. But I haven’t seen that on their website or purse breakdown since that was initially released. It doesn’t really matter now though anyways!

If Reed did race the full in September and won, then he’d win $16,000 for the race and either $10,000 or $15,000 (different info on different pages) for the series bonus. That might be worth it for him?

Ya, if he can make 25k+, that would be a nice payday. Normally I would say it would be a tougher race though, even $16k for the win is twice the normal Ironman event payout, but being so close to Hawaii I suspect a lot of the top guys will take a pass. But if just Bozonne is there, it will be a tough race. He has a few ironman distance races under his belt, and has shown he can race the distance well…

Hard to tell if Bozzone would be one of those guys taking pass. He’s in 2nd place in the series so could win the bonus too…and the dude likes to race. He’s doing Eagleman 70.3 this weekend!
