I’ve heard of guys riding non-team-sponsor bikes and painting them team colors, but last I knew, Davitamon-Lotto were riding Ridley this year.

yes, merckx rides a merckx - that is not just a paint job. I am not sure how he arranged that.
It’s part of his contract that he rides his papa’s bikes instead of the team-sponsored ridleys. seems the name merckx carries a little weight in the cycling world for some reason.
You can also find old photos of Daddy Mercx on Mercx branded bikes before he started making them - that’s called having an eye on the long game!
