Memphis in may or florida 70.3

Looking to get some feedback on which would be a better race overall? Course, organization, food, overall, etc??? They are both on May 20th?

Memphis in May. Awesome race and I’ll be back again in 07…

Can’t speak about Memphis as I’ve never been, but I did the FL 70.3 last year and the race was really fun for me. Plenty of fun for the family with Disney World being there, and the lake was nice and warm for the swim, and the bike was fairly flat and fast, with a couple of rollers. Run course was so-so…dirt/grass trails mixed with some paved parts, and hotter than a cat’s ass on a tin roof (it was record heat the day of the race). Ziebart runs a great race.

I did Memphis in May last year. Would have been a lot more fun if I hadn’t completely screwed my race up. The time trial start is nice and thins the field out. Closed, mostly flat roads on the bike. A roller coaster of a run on miles 2-5. Plenty of food and beer at the finish line. I’ll do it again but decided to do the Gulf coast 1/2 the week before.

Where are you from? Just asking because of your Username.

I have not done Florida, but I did do Memphis in May last year. The food was excellent, the people were nice and I had a great time. I actually like the time trial start to begin with. Unfortunately as one of the last people to go, I had to wait forever before I actually got in the water. Literally I think the pro winner, Greg Remally (I know I probably spelled the name wrong) was just finishing the whole course as I finished the swim. Which also meant by the time I hit the run, it was hot as H E double hockey stix.

Bama of course!!!

Memphis in May is one of the best races in the world. Period.

Memphis has better food then any other race I’ve ever done period.

Other than that, the course is moderately hilly to some people describe it as flat. Being from Illinois its moderately hilly for me. The TT swim start is nice to keep you from getting beat up in a wave start.

Good race overall that I’ll do again, but it’s not possible this year.

I haven’t done FL 70.3, but MIM isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. It’s simply a REALLY GOOD olympic race, super fast, TT start with BarBQue at the finish. I didn’t believe anyone about the hills on the run, but believe it or not…there are some! (Contrary to what you might think from riding the bike course).

If I were going to invest time into training and money into travel/entry, I’d go to 70.3

Florida 70.3 is a great race! You will love the venue and course. I’ve never been to MIM, but have heard that it is a nice race. I’m sure that you will not be disappointed with either event. Both races have Gatorade Endurance on the course. Z

Can’t loose. Both great. RDs are great. Only reason I don’t do MIM anymore is I race in FL and take my family to WDW.

Look at your “A” race for the season and decide from there. Helps to know if you are north or south. 70.3 FL is tougher coming from the cccccold. It is usually my first run over 60F.
