Melatonin

Does anyone else regularly take melatonin to help them sleep? I rarely sleep well, and melatonin is the only thing, aside from ambien, that helps. I’ve been taking it nightly for about 6 months now. Do any of the docs out there have any info about long-term effects of this supplement? Anybody else use it?

I have used and occasionally use melatonin to combat jet lag. From what I have read, it’s occasional use it safe and without side effects (other than sleepyness). However the prolonged use can inhibit the bodys’ ability to naturlally produce melatonin, thus creating a dependancy in order to gain regular sleep. Older people do not have this issue, because as we age our bodies produce less melatonin. For them the regular use can be quite helpfull in having normal sleep patterns.

This is what I have read, and can be completely wrong.

This stuff contains melatonin & is far better – I’ve been using it for the past 30-40 days with excellent results:
