Meeting with Scott USA's Scott Montgomery

It was our pleasure to meet with Scott USA’s Scott Montgomery here at Bikesport yesterday evening. Scott has been a pivotal personality in the cycling industry with Cannondale, among others, and now as the General Manager and Vice President of Scott USA.

We chatted about the new Scott PLasma triathlon bike, Steve Larsen, the market in general and riding bikes.

Scott USA is practicing a top-down marketing penetration beginning with their support of the Saunier-Duval Pro Cycling Team with the Scott CR1 in the Tour de France and now with the new Plasma triathlon bike.

It will interesting to watch Scott USA’s growth continue, probably more rapidly, through 2006. These guys are an emerging brand to watch.

This is an great company, I’m excited to carry them.

Did you ask Scott about the seat angle and/or creating an adjustable seat clamp to get steeper?

Yes, I did ask him. There is a discussion of an alternate clamp to provde a wider range of effective seat tube angles.

Yup, I am hearing sometime from November '05 to June '06… Pretty wide range. You guys know the drill: You want one, buy it now and hang on…

Did he have a Plasma to show-and-tell? If so how does it compare to the P3C?
