Mechanics*** Red Rear Derailleur Jumping Gears

I’ve got about 300 or so miles on my new bike. Yesterday I was out and my rear derailleur kept jumping gears when I wasn’t shifting. I’m sure this is an easy fix.

Can anyone give me some insight to what this might be before I spend an entire night in my garage trying to figure it out?

Thanks

the cable has stretched slightly, this is completely normal. have a look at the link below, just do not adjust the high/low limit screws or the b tension screw, you will only need to adjust the derailleur cable tension by a half turn or so, using the barrel adjuster.

Sweet thanks. Are you from Halifax Nova Scotia? I grew up in Dartmouth. Small world.

i moved here about 4 years ago from Bermuda (where I grew up). Sometimes I wonder why I moved

Haha. Cool. I live in Las Vegas now. My brother vacationed in Bermuda last year and fell in love with the place. Thanks again for the advice.

Also check the chain to make sure a link is not seized.

Wow. Bermuda to Nova Scotia … you must be the only person in the world to have made that move. Or, you’re one of number that you probably don’t need to hands to count.
