Mechanical Disc brakes in cold/snowy conditions?

Does anyone know how well mechanical disc brakes work in cold/snowy conditions? Just looking at options for commuting bikes.

Thanks.

They work fine, but if you are riding through ice/snow consistently, you need to check for pad wear. I cooked a pair of pads in a race in an ice storm in April, as did most others on the course, regardless of mech or hydro. They do work better than V brakes, although they can also make some ungodly noise, but generally speaking, I’m happier with disc’s vs. V’s in such weather. Drastic conditions will ruin any brake pad.

Great! thanks
