I’m a fan of going to KFC before a long bike or brick workout and getting a 2 drum/2 thigh meal. I use to like the McDs selects.

What I didn’t realize until I looked was how many carbohydrates are in the McDs chicken product. It constitutes 35% of the grams as opposed to 14% for KFC.

Apparently they either inject or soak the chicken in maltodextrin - but so does KFC. So I’m not sure exactly where all of those carbohydrates are coming from.

Just a guess: breading. According to the chart the McD ones also have less protein and less fat. I have no idea what “real chicken” of a similar quantity has, but that would be an interesting 3rd set of numbers.

It’s either breading or juiced up with something. Below is the nutrional info for a 1/2 chicken breast (roasted) from calorieking.com. Zero carbs.

Nutrition Facts **Calories 142** (Kilojoules 593) % DV** Total Fat 3.1 g 5% Sat. Fat 0.9 g 4% Cholesterol 73 mg 24% Sodium 64 mg 3% Total Carbs. 0 g 0% Dietary Fiber 0 g 0% Sugars 0 g Protein 26.7 g Calcium 12.9 mg Potassium 220.2 mg

Yep. So whatever they add is giving you 20g of fat and 11g carbs, all unknown source.
