Maybe stupid wetsuit lube question

I searched but couldn’t find an answer so I’m forced to risk sounding REALLY stupid…

I know to use Body Glide on my feet and ankles etc to help take off the suit but when people suggest also using Pam do they mean on my skin or on the outside of the suit once it is on me? I thought skin, but then figured maybe on outside of the suit to make it easier to remove or something?

Ridicule at will, but please please try to sneak an answer in too…
Thanks!

On the skin. Spray it all over: arms, shoulders, underarms, back, legs. It will not only help the suit come off, it will help it slide into place while putting it on and while swimming. It works wonders!

Thanks! One oiled up woman coming soon to a triathlon near you!

Will it damage the wet suit?

I have used Pam for years and my Orca suits are fine. I do rinse it out after every race and about once a month I wash it with a wetsuit shampoo.

It doesn’t seem to have damaged my suit, an Orca Predator 2 that I have been wearing for ~4 years.

Let me make this short. Body Glide prevents or reduces chafing and rashing, it does not render wetsuit removal easier. Use a non petroleum based oil or other lubricant for that. Mineral Oil, KY, Astroglide, some sunscreens even work. Anything with petroleum will break down the rubber as well as the glue.

i use pam and have been for years…I only spray it on from the knee on down…dont need it for the upper half!

Although Pam works great for removing your wetsuit, (I used it when I started) and did not seem to damage my wetsuit, I was told that it can not be repaired if ripped. The glue is unable to stick to the now slick rubber.

Will it damage the wet suit?

The QR rep gave a talk to our club recently, and he said Pam can accumulate in the seams and makes it really difficult to repair. So use at your own risk.

So if not Pam and not bodyglide what to use? KY, really?? KY is water soluble, won’t it just wash away? BTW, ever try the KY that warms up as you use it…

I had the “tingling” sensation!
