I was hoping someone could answer some questions about the Mavic Wintech computers. I have a bunch of the computers, starting back with the original large model. I love them. Most recently, I went to change the battery on my Wintech ES and for whatever reason I could not get the computer back online. I tried three different 2032 batteries and had no luck. So either I did something wrong, or the computer is fried and I need a new one. I can’t really understand this, as it was working fine (except for low battery) just before I made the switch. Now, nothing just a blank screen.
So two questions:
-
Is there something simple that people normally miss when they change the battery that would cause this to happen? No response from computer.
-
Given that my bike is already set up with cadence sensor and e-skewer are all of the new models compatible with these sensors? I really don’t want to have to set up my cadence sensor again if I buy a higher model and also though if I just bought a cheaper FS or e-bolt that I could use the e-skewer. Is this true?
Any help would me much appreciated.
Thanks,
Neal Dunn
Had a similar problem a long time ago, and made a note of how I got it back online; maybe it will work for you:
Pull up the page with SPD up top and CAD below. Press right button for 4 seconds. When CAD starts flashing, spin wheel till speed displays.
Thanks. This is helpful, but the entire screen is blank after changing the battery. No way to get any screen up right now.
hmmm, I just looked at the manual for my old FS, and it did not show any special “wake-up” process after battery change, just talks about the “digital pairing” necessary to get it to talk to the sensor after battery swap. On the battery change the only thing of note is the + side out when you install the new one, and I’d imagine the cover would not even refit if you had that wrong. I’d ask the local shop that sells them if there is one…good luck.
bump for the morning crowd. I could really use some help here.
Thanks,
Neal
I had the same problem with one of my Mavic Wintech cyclometers, don’t recall which model though. The mechanic at the LBS said that it was fried and he had seen a number of Mavic computers do the same thing. I went with the Cateye and have been very happy so far. Strangely though, the Mavic on my road bike, which is older than the one I had on the tri bike, works like a champ and had gone through several battery changes. I do know it is a different model of Wintech though.
You have to do a hard restart. Check out the video on you tube.
