I would like your opinions about technical features like weight, stiffness et, of these wheelset and the usage for racing triathlons compared to Zipp 404’s and/or Shimano DuraAce/105 (REMEMBER THAT I GOT THE 2003 OR 2004 MODEL WICH IS BLACK).
What’s a great deal/value in dollars on an used product like this because I got an offer here in Brazil and would be really thankfull to hear from you, experts on it!
I pretend to use it as a race wheel only and compete the half-iron distance races and probably the IM Brazil 2006 and of course the sprints and olympics we have here mainly on circuits with lots of turnarounds.
They are training wheels, not racing wheels. They are not aero. They will have less drag than a regular 32-spoke wheel, but they are much less aero than a wheel like a 404. They have excellent hubs. Much better than a 105 hub. Probably as good (some people might say better, so might say worse) as a Dura-Ace hub. They are usually about 550USD new, so I would say that 200-250USD is probably a fair price if they are in good condition.
If you want a racing wheel, get a 404 or H3/Alps, both of which will be MUCH faster for racing.
ditto to what Rappstar said, Ksyrium Elites are a good. real reliable wheel, but they don’t fall into the normal category of “racing wheels”. They are a definite upgrade over any “standard” set of wheels though; remember testing a pair vs. some lower end Shimanos and there was a noticeable difference.
They’re not real light, or real aero, but they are GREAT wheels. I’ve had mine for nearly 4500 km and i’ve never yet put them out of true. super reliable.
