Massage stick/roller go to make /brand

Looking for a daily massage stick for calf rolling , seems to be a few out there , Tiger tail , trigger stick has anyone had good results with a certain type .

The Stick. A lot of running stores carry it. I have a cheaper brand as well but The Stick is a better design. The rollers work better than the cheaper brand. They also make a shorter one that travels nicely in a carry-on if that matters to you.

Just get the cheapest foam roller. It’ll do the job. Hell, an old tennis ball will dig deep into your calves and you can find one for free probably.

Addaday makes the best one out there. The Type P and Type C are the two best models.

Once you go to something l like the rumbleroller you never go back to a cheap foam roller.

Not true. If I haven’t used the rumble roller for a couple months I start out on a really old white foam roller for a few days.

+1 for the travel stick

Yeah you got to use it religiously and keep those muscles supple.

We have The Stick for patients at my physio office; it’s very popular: good compliance rate since it’s easier to do while seated.

I prefer to lie on the floor to roll & stretch, so I either use my homemade foam roller: a 3’ peice of 4" PVC pipe with a ribbed peice of yoga contact cemented around it; or the trvel-sized The Grid from TriggerPoint.

Save yourself a bunch of money and get a wooden rolling pin. It is sooooooo much better than those expensive rollers, as I’ve had most of them and the old wooden rolling pin gets the job done best.

This! I even got mine at the dollar store.

I use this trigger point roller:

And less frequently, The Stick. I find the trigger point roller works on calves as well as the larger muscles. Though you do need to get down on the floor to use it.

I personally think the stick sucks. It doesn’t do shit for me as it will bend over time. I have the tiger tail roller, trigger point foam roller, and a lacrosse ball. I had a generic foam roller before, but it started to soften up. I noticed a huge difference with the trigger point foam roller. Its 4 years old and still good as new. I have a love/hate relationship with it.

I use the Triggerpoint Grid roller, really done wonders for my calves!

If you’re willing to make it rain get the R8 Roll Recovery. Its small, locks on you, and does a great job on the legs! I’ve had mine for 3+ years and if I needed to replace it I would reorder in a second.

Or head to the hardware store and get a 2’ piece of 3" PVC. http://lavamagazine.com/ankle-elasticity-pro-triathlete-heather-lendways-4-weapon-of-choice/

I have a few of these. One for the car, one for the office, one for home. Great product. Lifetime warranty if you break it. I have not broken any yet.

Yea, I think mine is over 40 years old, and won’t wear out soon. It is the best thing I’ve ever found to find and dig out those trouble spots you don’t even know you have.

I have had the Grid for years and love it. In fact, I have them in multiple sizes so I can travel with one.

But, I picked up the most peculiar device at Interbike this year called the BFF Body Buffer. It looks like a smaller version of a car buffer, but you can use it on your muscles. Any time I have soreness, I use the buffer. Kind reminds me of the Deep Muscle Stimulator that my PT has used on me in the past. You can also use the buffer with a sort of sandpaper attachment that sticks to it… and it shaves your legs. Gives you baby soft skin. Yes… it was an impulse purchase but one that I have yet to regret. They are supposed to be coming out with a smaller version - which would be easier to travel with.

+1 the grid roller is great

The plastic core makes it a good blend of errectivity of a wood roller and comfort of a soft roller.

I worked as a sport physio and always travel with one
