Massage Guns: Do they work and which one to buy?

Looking at massage guns and just wondering if they really are worth the money?
I foam and massage ball roll but wondering if this maybe another modality to try.
Which model are most people using?

Yes they work, and probably the best $400 or so I’ve spent in the sport. I grabbed the Hypervolt Plus over a year ago. There are cheaper brands but personally I wanted something reputable in case I had issues and I liked that it was much quieter than others (at the time). I have a problem area in my hamstring, used to have to get it worked on every few months or so despite foam rolling etc. Haven’t had an issue since I got the gun. Rarely foam roll any more either, the gun is just much easier to use.

I got the Bivi on Amazon (cheapo one) - really nice kit actually (if you don’t mind the fact that it looks like a drill  )

Didn’t make me any faster, Feels great though. For $80 it’s a nice way to check it out without spending a ton.

Same here. My inlaws got me one very similar to the Bivi and it’s frigging awesome. Came with half a dozen head attachments and a nice case, totally worth it. I use it before bed or later in the day after my workout is done and it just loosens everything up.

Agree with everyone else. They work. I have the TheraGun.

I also have the Theragun. It seems more like a real device instead of a toy, as it packs quite a lot of power if needed. I think the best thing about this particular one is between the product design (triangular) and the multi position head one can easily work every part of your own body without straining a wrist to access certain areas. Grasping various spots on the handle makes it very easy to get the leverage you want and where. I haven’t had it long but am very impressed by the Theragun.

I bought this one off of amazon:

It has great reviews with a fakespot rating of A. I bought it about 6 weeks ago. I have spent a lot of money on goofy recovery tools in the past. This is without a doubt the absolute best purchase I have made when it comes to recovery. I use it a few days a week while sitting around and I am able to get problematic areas that are tough for me to foam roll and super awkward to try and lacrosse ball. I work out knots that I didn’t even know existed and I can work them out while just sitting around. I truly have felt great since I began using it and have been recommending one to anyone that will listen. For what it’s worth, the few people that have bought one on my recommendation have been happy with their purchase as well.

I bought something similar on Amazon, think it was like $125. I use it pretty much daily.

I have one that simply has a handle that’s 90 degrees to the gun. It’s incredibly difficult to comfortably access hamstrings. If I had it to do again I’d grab one of the triangular ones.

I got an Addaday BioZoom Edge for Christmas and I like it. I particularly like the ability to put it what hurts/what I want worked on in the app and it will run the device for me as well as show a short video of what I should be doing.

Thanks. Just got it with $40 off coupon!

Yes, they are a great tool to have in your arsenal. My wife and I use ours everyday! We were gifted the Sportneer by my brother for Christmas. He looked at various brands and purchased one for himself prior to purchasing one for us. It comes with six attachments and it all fits into a nice carrying case. It is not very loud at all. Our Physical Therapist has the Hyperice and I am not sure there is much of a difference. I do know that ours has five different intensity levels. The little instruction guide tells you what each intensity level is used for along with what areas of the body the attachments can be used on.

I have this one as well. Very handy and is def worth $60. Though the lacrosse ball is still the GOAT but it can be hard to get it to work on certain areas.

I bought a $400+ gun and a $60 gun. My plan was to try both return one of them.

There was no difference in the two other than warranty. I was not concerned with warranty so I returned the $400 and kept the $60.

Read up how you use it, so you don’t hurt your muscles.

Out of curiosity, what did you get for $60?

We have a theragun pro and are happy with it, but it’s causing fights between myself and the wife about charging and usage at the same time (ha, but not joking). I’d like to get another but I’m not going to buy another theragun or Hyperice $ product if I can save

I put a link in my comment above. I’d paste it here but can’t get it to copy on my iphone.

Thanks - saw it as soon as I hit post.

Just got the Hypervolt** Go**. Nice size and works great. Easy to handle. $200 ish
Motor will stop under a heavy push vs the full size gun does not.

But perfect for what I need right now.

The cheap one my buddy bought broke internally. Plastic is no good.

I bought a Trigger Point. I like the rest of their stuff so I thought it would be a decent. It was $200 cdn and I am very happy with it.

I bought this one and I’ve been happy with it.
