MARTINI SHIV...wheels and decals....thoughts and opinions

Looking for input on people’s thoughts and opinions with wheels and decal options…

I am leaning towards a Super 9 rear and a 808 FC front.

Some people may have seen the proposed decals I posted in other threads. I wanted the disc to have some sort of optical illusion look when spinning, that’s where the idea of the dot pattern came from and I got that from Lance’s 2009 Prologue bike. Each dot has a portion of the poster collage inside. The front wheel decals are just modified Zipp decals with the collage in the background to tie everything together. I know it’s hard to tell from the photoshop, but I am starting to wonder whether the black wheels are now clashing with the frame (I’m thinking Navy to match the bike would look better), and whether the front and rear decals go well enough with each other. Everyones thoughts and opinions are appreciated…

Looks awesome mate!

The wheels should be white.

You are right, it’s clashing and looks awful. Rather than the disk, you should go for a deep wheelset (1080’s maybe) instead: custom painted spokes could go a long way towards balancing the look. Some custom painted H3D’s would look fantastic as well. Tire color and cable housing color will also be critical, the devil is in the details. Lightweight wheels would be consistent with the european/Porsche heritage and the rear disk is a nice white.

Oh and consider Mavic I/O’s

Wheels need to be GOLD (and so does your chain)
.

true.

The wheels should be white. +1234

White, with the color scheme incorporated into the decals.

White or navy…definitely stick with the color scheme you’ve got on the bike…the black looks like an afterthought (even with the collage background).

Almost forgot. Your seats already too high.

not a big fan of the disc graphics. Maybe have it paint like a nice silver car rim

I like that idea. A Formula 1 car rim look.
Nice!

As they appear now, they don’t match the bike at all…
Brad

thats perfect how it is.

a F1 rim would be kickass
.

White rims with the exact same decal design that you have on the frame, same outline etc for the zipp. I would keep the disc design but just add a little blue color around the circles similar to the decals.

Thanks for the replies. I think if I stay with black wheels then the decals need to be simplified. If I do decide to go with a white or navy blue painted wheel then the decals might work. I am working on getting photoshops to see how it looks.

whats the scoop with the DI2, is it ready?

On that rig, wheels gotta be white and the decals red/blue(small). Also, I hope your able to TT at 28mph or better to pull the whole thing off.

Haha, my thoughts exactly. That bike is talking the talk, can the legs walk the walk

Badass bike either way.

I agree. Those Mavic IO’s would look great.

BTW, there’s an optical phenomenom that you might utilize. When you rotate white and black in close proximity, the eye registers the color red at the trailing edge of the black area. You can occasionally buy some children’s spinning tops that do this.

This was posted in your 1080 thread as well, but I’d love to see a mock-up of your Shiv w/ white wheels.

I really think the black wheels do it a disservice.

I think you should use real diamonds instead of those weak looking stickers. How sick would it look if you had 1.5 carat diamonds all over the rear disc?
And your spokes on the front should be made of platinum.
