2000 had 'frikkin scary wind (remember Sister Madona getting blown off the bike?)
That was a wild ride with gusts over 40mph. In 2001, it was extremely windy, but not as gusty.
yea was trying to figure out which year I thought it was the year dave quit on the bike and larson raced which was 2001 I know 2001 was bad
but I think your right 2000 was bad as well 2 back to back years.
Friend of mine in 2001 was blown over the guard rail he was having problems handling bike pulled over to side of road while slowing a gust came up and bam right over a guard rail…
I had another friend who was bragging about how he likes tough conditions and thats his kind of course and such and I told him before we went to hawaii in 2001 “well I hope it’s the worse conditions ever not because I want you to have a bad race but I want you to experience what hawaii can do and have respect for the course”
Saw him on the run at about 8 miles and he yelled out side of his mouth “YOU GOT YOUR WISH”… that was in 2001.
