Marinoni?

Looks like I’ve settled on a Marinoni, as it seems the best “bang for the buck” (quality, customization, etc.). I’m looking at the Leggero (all steel, not the version with the carbon stays), as the Puima seems not to be rated to hold my weight (only recommended for riders up to 198#'s, and I’m closer to 210).

Anyone have any feedback on Marinoni or the Leggero, good or bad? My only concern is stiffness – while I like the steel for comfort, how stiff is it going to be on climbs and sprints? I may try racing it, but I’ll be definitely using on the local aggressive roadie ride, and I’d prefer not to get dropped, or at least no more so than I usually am.

I’ll be switching over my grouppo/wheelset to this frame, Chorus/Mavic Ksyrium Elites. That seem about the right spec for a bike like this?

Thanks.

NICE…What could anyone say but that it will be a sweet as hell ride.

Marioni and cheese is one of my all time favorite foods.

I was going to say that but the OT police are out in force this week…

He’s forgiven, but based solely on his ongoing contributions to the Hottie thread.

Any other thoughts? Anyone?

You can’t go wrong with a Marinoni…been riding them for 20 years now…still have 2 customs…They are top quality, hand built and made to last. Along with great service, you will still have one of the best resale frames on the market years to come…and depending on were you live, you could have the only one as well!!!

they’ve definitely been in the cycling community for a long time and I have to admit experience goes a long way in my book. I think there was a time when they were VERY popular in Montreal but I see less and less of them now.

anyway, a guy in our club recently got the ti model with carbon seatstay and loves it. He’s ~50years old but a nutty road racer, and triathlete.

I’ve also seen a custom built for my friend’s dad. He’s also very happy with it from what I hear.

I was never fond of their paint schemes… a little “too” old school for me…

Awesome- good buddy worked for them- you will not be disappointed, I guarantee. Sweet bikes.

I have not ever ridden one, but on Oahu we get a fair number of Snowbird Canucks that come to train a couple weeks a year in Jan-Mar. The guys I have ridden with on those bikes all sung high praise of the ride, and they had nice paint and welds. Not too sure what the exchange if you are in the states is but they seemed in the “best buy” neighborhood for sure.

Since I’m in Canada, the exchange rate should be okay.

Thanks to everyone’s opinion. This just cemented the deal.

good to see at least some kind of response on the topic since you don’t…you know…respond to PMs…watch your tire pressure next year punk…you asked for it;-).
