“If I wear headphones during this marathon, I would feel the same as everyone else around me.”*** ***
Are you working an aid station this year? I may be running some portion as a relay filling in for the last minute dropouts.
“If I wear headphones during this marathon, I would still think Brooke Burke is HOT!” This thread was lacking porn.*** ***

like a dirty little whore who needs it bad.
If I wear headphones during this marathon, I would feel *that I would *compromise my safety and that of other runners.
.
If I wear headphones during this marathon, I would feel like USA Track & Field and the
Road Runner’s Cub of America are caving in.
I would feel one of two things; a complete disregard for the race the rules my safety and the safety of others, or I might feel that I know better than the collective wisdom of the Race Director, John Mansoor, the USATF and the Road Runners Club of America.
I friggin hate people who wear headphones. How many times have you been on that bike path yelling “ON YOUR LEFT” at the fat idiot jogger who is roaming all over the path or has his dog on a 30 foot leash, and he can’t hear you because he’s blasting REO Speedwagon in his ears.
Its friggin rude to do it on a public trail, its downright offensive to do it in a race when the RD has specifically requested you not to.
I would feel better as I wouldn’t be in my head thinking about how much this sucks.
I would feel ______ “give me fuel, give me fire, give me that which I desire”, wait, what? why would anyone else care if I wear headphones during a race or if I dare… on a public trail. Zig zagging, how about you exaggerate a little more. Uggh, I can’t run straight because of music in head, derp.

Fair enough but in a marathon like New York or Mercedes down here in Birmingham? Come on. Safety? Give me a break. You are on a road about 50ft. wide. GO AROUND. I will absolutely wear headphones at Mercedes this year. I don’t buy this “not safe” garbage. You’re running for f*cks sake! Not riding in a 200 person pack!
In response to “I friggin hate people who wear headphones.” Glad to know that if I ever meet you, that “HATE” is a very quick response in your life. You must hate a lot of people. …Glad your not at any peace conference!!
Oh and to…"at the fat idiot jogger " Wow, glad to see you are not judgemental, and do not like to see others change their life. Maybe the FAT jogger already lost 100lbs…Its a funny post due to you normally being very liberal (that not being a bad thing) and your tongue in cheek comments to conservative posts.
Good thing you don’t own stock in Apple.
I wear headphones a lot when I run…its something I enjoy a great deal. I have been called an ‘idiot’…but I only used to be fat. And its not REO speedwagon, its usually AC/DC or Metallica or maybe if I’m feeling like an OG, some Ice Cube or Dr. Dre.
I don’t wear them in races though.
If I wear headphones during this marathon, I would feel badly because I’m doing something that’s against the rules. It would be the same as if I littered the course. It’s against the rules and therefore I shouldn’t do it. If I want to race with headphones then I will find a race that allows them.
“Glad your not at any peace conference!!”
Jimmy and Yassir’s Nobel prizes notwithstanding! (shouldn’t they repossess those??)
I would feel… that my time wasn’t a valid comparison to other competitive athletes because I didn’t follow the rules as defined by the race organizer and sanctioning body.
That being said, I don’t care. As long as it’s a safe course (even more so if it’s closed)… I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to wear them. Maybe one earphone if it’s really crowded? I do long runs for the fun of it, and I’m gonna feel that it’s an accomplishment no matter what. If they’re not going to enforce it, then definitely wear them. Maybe the rules will get changed if people really want them.
Good luck on Sunday! If you see a guy out on a yellow bike alongside the course, say hi. I’m playing the support role this time.

Wow, is everyone in San Francisco as loving and tolerant as you?

Garbage? I’ll put you in the “I know better than the RD, the USATF and RRCA” club. Its not garbage its common sense. I can’t tell you how many water stops I’ve volunteered at and how many times I’ve seen headphone wearing idiots cause collisions because they can’t hear the shouts of other runners who are trying to grab drinks.
I run marathons in the 6 minute pace range. trust me, it hurts when you hit someone at that pace, it hurts when you hit the road at any pace. They funny thing about people that wear headphones is that they never see the people they impede because we usually come up behind you and have to take evasive action to go around you when you do something dumb. You are blissfully unaware of the chaos you cause.
Yeah… I mean do you really think only fat people listen to REO Speedwagon?
Keep on rollin’…
only when the ‘fat idiot jogger’ is wearing a leather corset, and has his submissive life partner is on the end of that 30ft leash…only then would tolerance come into play.
